Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

I use the community edition in my firm. It works like a charm. It's the easiest way to make backups of my virtual machines.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • make affordable backups
  • easy and quick recovery
  • good api documentation
  • runs only on windows s.o.
  • hungry for ram
  • a bit expensive

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

9 virtual machines. I'm using community edition. It's enough for me.
My boss is evaluating to buy a commercial license because he was very impressed by the speed of restore of a whole MS SQL Server virtual machine. Even the single file search and recover works like a charm.
Whit a commercial license I'll be able to automate and protect all vm of my little datacenter
  • When I need to restore data, it simply restore. Invaluable
  • MS SQL back in production in less than 1 hour
  • Single file restore in less than a minute
I was a Nakivo user for 4 years. They change licensing policy and the upgrade was too expensive.
I tried Veaam and I found a good featured community edition. All previous tested software has less capabilities or less features at the same price.
For what I need is the best choice.
I've no cloud service at the moment, but my firm is planning a partial migration within a couple of years.
For now our internet connection is slow and the amount of data that has to be trasferred is big, so we need to consolidate our infrastructure before to go on cloud and look for a piece of backup software... In any case I don't need to search... Veema will be my choice.
I've yet to use this feature.
In little and middle datacenter where windows is a must... Veeam is all a IT manager need.I've tried a lot of competitors, but Veeam B&R wins in almost all of comparisons. I've a Microsoft SQL Server for accounting and product lifecycle management. I restored a replica taken in production environment during work hours without problem of db consistency (data after the replica are gone... but wasn't a big problem) and the software return to function in less than 1 hour.

Using Veeam Data Platform

Both of them are account manager, but with a bit of IT skills.
The IT manager is not present full time so sometimes they have to take action.
Those people appreciate the clean interface, the speed for restoring a file and the zero-time needed to learn Veeam capabilities and features.

I'm using community edition, so I've purchased any support.

  • backup of vm
  • replica of very important vm
  • restore of entire vm
  • restore of single file
  • No. Only in traditional way
Because there are no alternative with those features and those price.

Using Veeam Data Platform

Because interface is good, but can be improved
