Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam for our backup and replication workflows, including disk and tape backups. Veeam helps us maintain secure and scalable backups, meeting our Federal and State requirements. Veeam provides and easy and intuitive way to maintain our backup infrastructure.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Utilizing backup copies for secondary purposes via DataLabs
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Immutable backup storage
  • Instant recovery
  • File level restores
  • Licensing is expensive, in the new age of virtual machines
  • File shares should not require more licenses than a standard backup
  • Instant recovery from AHV to vSphere does not clone CPU cores correctly

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

Roughly 500. This is about double what we had prior to Veeam, but this is largely due to the shift off of physical servers to hyperconverged infrastruture.
  • Reduce backup complexity
  • Increased retention schedules
Our prior solution was retiring and moving to a new platform, which was costly and didn't have the original feature sets we were looking for.
We do not use Veeam's cloud capabilities.
File level restores and rollbacks for file-shares are very easy, and we use this feature all the time. However, it is disappointing that Veeam charges extra for these backups.
Veeam is appropriate for large scale on prem backups, but the community edition lacks many of the necessary features for small-scale operations.
