Veeam Backup & Replication
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam B&R to back up our entire hyperconverged virtual systems infrastructure. We need a robust backup and recovery platform for business continuity and disaster planning. What helps is that we have factored in cyber risk to our strategy, and Veeam's solution allows us to create hardened backups in the risk of a cyber event.
Pros
- Backup and replication.
- Object storage.
- Hardened repository.
- Data preservation.
- Data reservation.
- Virtualization integration.
Cons
- Automatic updates.
- Google workspace cloud backup.
- Dashboard design.
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
- Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
15 virtual workloads on physical. This is the same number of endpoints we had when using Veeam. We don't expect the volume to increase or decrease significantly within the next three to five years.
- It provides peace of mind that data and systems are backed up, replicated, and secure—that's priceless.
- Integration with S3 storage has saved us $100's per year on less expensive storage solutions.
- Flexible licensing has saved us $1000 per year.
The introduction of our Nutanix hyper-converged solution drove the decision to move to Veeam. Previously, we were on a VMware stack that backed up locally. The backups took way too long and included quite a bit of overhead. Veeam directly integrates with Nutanix and Backblaze—it saves us a ton of time and money.
We store regular backups in the cloud. The integration with Backblaze and the use of object storage allow us to use the cloud as the capacity tier of our tiered storage model, saving months' worth of immutable data for very cheap!
We do not yet use Veeam for data/file-share backup.
I didn't really compare services; Veeam was a shoo-in!
