Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam Data Platform for disk and tape backups of our entire on-prem environment, and use Veeam One for auditing our security posture and backup jobs to ensure we are compliant. We need to have consistant backups to align with our external audits, and Veeam helps us to do that efficiently.
Pros
- Easy to use GUI
- Consistant backups
- Great customer support
Cons
- Easier restore process
- Would be nice to do a one-time backup of a vm without tying it to a job
- More visibility in reporting in Veeam One
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
We have approximately 120 virtual servers and about 5 physical servers we are backing up.
- Security for environment in case of a disaster
- Visibility to show higher ups how our backups are running
We needed a more efficient backup solution as we are constantly being audited by external auditors as we are a financial company that has a continuous cashflow. This solution helped us to automate our backup processes while hardening our security posture in a way we have not been able to in the past.
Veeam Data Platform has much better capabilities and options for backups and a friendlier GUI. We found with Datto that we hit a wall in functionality of what we were trying to provide to the company.
