Overall Satisfaction with BDRSuite

I give it this rating because of its product abilities, functionality, and ease of use.
It is just used for backup servers (virtual machines) running on VMware ESXi hosts.

The possibility to install Vembu BDR Suite on a Linux server was important. We don't need to buy an additional operating system server license.
In our organization, we used Vembu BDR Suite in a virtual environment. We were able to manage backups of virtual machines on multiple VMware ESXi hosts.
We also considered Unitrends Backup. We chose Vembu BDR Suite because of its flexibility in hardware components allocation (CPU, RAM, HDD).

In multi-vendor virtual environments. You can easily restore virtual machines (vmware) backup to hyper-v environment or vice versa.

Using BDRSuite

1 - IT Administrator
1 - It's nothing unusual that with linux installation, you'll need some experience and knowledge to make it working. Obviously it's not needed with Windows installation which is like with other apps. For everyday administration, everyone can handle Vembu BDR which is easy. The things you need to know is: how to connect to server infrastructure, and the required permission (propably admin).

  • Duplicate some of backup jobs of primary solution

  • Maybe migrate from Free Edition to Standard version
Because of the product functions and possibilities:
- it's easy to use through WEB browser
- installation process is not complicated
- Vembu BDR solution is reliable, and works properly. It does the job.
This product could get extra points for the appliance that could be imported to virtual environment (no need for windows server license or some linux knowledge).

Propably i would go the same way, with linux OS and Vembu DBR install

BDRSuite Implementation

Overall the implementation was not complicated. The linux version installation is rather easy step by step process. It's just when you do something for the first time, it always take a bit longer because it's new and you just need to be more focused to configure everything properly.
