Overall Satisfaction with VMware ESXi
We use ESXi across the whole organization; 100% of our servers are virtualized on it.
- It does virtualization well. Management is easy and simple.
- HA/Failover is simple
- I don't have any significant ideas for improvement suggestions.
- ESXi has drastically lowered our hardware costs, server room environmental control costs, and lowered our power usage.
I tried HyperV a while back; however this was in an early version of it (server 2008, non-R2) and the cluster management and HA/Failover was overly complicated to configure, even when using SCVMM. ESXi makes this all very simple. Also, with HyperV we always had to worry about running Windows updates on the host server; with ESXi that isn't an issue.
