Overall Satisfaction with Vultr
We use Vultr to host apps and websites both for temporary, development work and for long-term public facing sites. It's especially useful for deploying sites rapidly in a network that is separate from our own environment for redundancy and resiliency purposes. Having the ability to host items in disparate datacenters is a huge plus and the ability to manage them from a single interface is advantageous.
Pros
- Clear, consistent pricing
- Rapid deployment of new virtual machines
- Reliable and fast support
Cons
- I wish it was possible to load more than one or two of our own ISOs for deployments
- It is impossible to "downgrade" a deployed machine to one with lesser capability if what you have is no longer needed
- The ability to scale up instances rapidly really helps my DevOps team get their jobs done more quickly.
As I mentioned earlier, their clear, upfront pricing means there are no surprises when the end of the month comes. You can easily see where your balance stands at any one moment in time. This avoids any sticker shock later down the line. Sometimes I wish they had a few more "in-between" options on some of their deployments, however.
This does not really apply to my organization.
Again, this really doesn't apply to anything we do.
