Overall Satisfaction with Workboard

We use Workboard across the company mainly for project management, meaning:
- work breakdown in smaller tasks
- assigning tasks to people
- monitoring the progress of the work
- project status reporting to higher management levels
We have realized that for non-technical teams(like the software development team is), Workboard provides a nice and clean way for managing the projects by improving the team member's sense of ownership with more collaboration(possible in the tool) which causes a more results oriented attitude.
  • Project management at higher level - includes tasks assignment, visual representations of the project status and deadlines
  • Increases the team members' sense of ownership - especially for people that are not used with or exposed to dedicated project management tools like Microsoft Project is.
  • User collaboration - which in turn reduces the communication via email
  • Increases the efficiency of the meetings - by quickly going through the action items and updating the task progress in the tool itself
  • Support has been outstanding so far
  • We have seen some slowness of the User Interface sometimes
  • It is not as straightforward to use for beginners. People need to be trained to benefit from the whole features of Workboard
  • On a personal note, I am used to more advanced project management tools, like Microsoft Project, I especially like their timeline view, shared resources, gantt chart etc.
  • With adding more and more features, it tends to be more complicated and harder to be used by non software development people. In my view this is the biggest advantage that Workboard has at the moment.
  • Using Workboard improved the project management for non software projects, like finance, HR or supply chain.
  • It increased the people's sense of ownership, making them think about results and deliveries on time.
  • It made project status reports easier.
  • Reduced communication via email.
  • Eliminated the usage of out of sync Excel files, offline tracking of action items.
Workboard vs Microsoft Project(and its Server) is like comparing a regular sport car with Formula 1 cars. One is lighter, nicer, with a broader audience, it gets you there fast while the other one is dedicated, not as nice, especially built for it, not for everyone and it will get you there much faster.
Project management at a higher level for non technical teams would work best in Workboard. It has nice visualization of the tasks (My Work), project objectives, deadlines, action items which all people appreciate. Using Workboard will keep the team on the same page, will increase its focus on the deadlines resulting in the productivity increase.
But, if you need stronger project management for software development projects, where methodologies evolve quickly, you may need to look for other tools.
