Great comprehensive resource for stand-alone HR professionals/small HR teams
Overall Satisfaction with Brightmine
As a stand-alone HR Manager, I use Brightmine to get the latest information on employment legislation and best practice, to help draft policies and procedures and as a cost-efficient resource to get specialist and tailored legal advice from their legal advice helpline.
Pros
- Vast amount of online resources.
- Latest updates on changing employment legislation as well as notification when changes are made to documents on the site.
- Free webinars, podcasts, events which provide in depth insights into specific employment topics.
Cons
- The search functionality could be improved, it sometimes can be difficult to find what you need when entering a few keywords (though it's probably because of the vast amount of resources online).
- The downloadable formats of documents could be improved e.g. line manager training suite could be in a powerpoint format rather than one long document.
- Reduced legal costs (as a result of the legal advice helpline_ and clear best practice guides
Now after benefitting from Brightmine, I wouldn't implement/develop a policy/procedure without first checking Brightmine for an appropriate resource. There's never any doubt that Brightmine won't have the most up-to-date best practice inline with changing employment legislation. Now, the majority of our Company HR policies have been modelled from Brightmine templates.
Brightmine has helped to ensure, as an organisation, we always stay up-to-date with new and emerging employment law changes.
- Croner and CIPD HR-inform
Brightmine has far exceeded any previous employment advice system I have used previously because of the sheer amount of resources available online. There's not any topic/issue I've come across so far that I haven't been able to find useful best practice guides on and/or template policies, etc. In addition, the advice line is much more useful since it's manned by employment solicitors, not just HR professionals. I've found with previous providers their advice lines are just manned by other HR professionals, whom, on occasion, have known less than I do and therefore the advice has not been very helpful. Also, I've found other advice providers not to be commercially focussed and so will only tell you the best practice guidance, but not commercially-focussed alternatives/risks etc.
