Overall Satisfaction with Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

The organization uses Zix. We currently use it to encrypt all outbound emails. Due to the sensitivity of our information being financial we are required to have a system to encrypt outbound email. Now, we don't force encryption on all outbound emails, but only those that meet certain criteria.
  • Transparency with other vendors and companies using Zix, for it allows us to communicate with them in an encryption manner transparently.
  • Lexicons - These are very helpful in creating different policies for different requirements in our various departments using different types of sensitive information.
  • TLS! Using ZixDirect is extremely helpful to communicate in an encrypted manner with third-parties enforcing TLS.
  • Reports!
  • Better OCR!
  • Update Zix Gateway interface to a more modern look!
  • One thing we find is that our members find it annoying to register to read their encrypted emails (that is why ZixDirect is great!), we try to find ways to work on the lexicons and policies to only encrypt what is required.
  • The system doesn't recognize images (unless you have the DLP or OCR option), so I have an employee reviewing emails going [out] not-encrypted to ensure none of these have sensitive information. It's a nightmare if we discover emails with sensitive information being sent!
  • On a positive note, we have reduced the problem of sensitive information leaking the organization by 90%.
We've looked at Proofpoint about 3 years ago due to the missing DLP or OCR functionality.
Definitely, if the organization is sending sensitive information out of their network. If there is any Non-Public Information (NPI) that needs encryption, then you should be using Zix. Nowadays it is not just a matter of NPI, but also proprietary information, financial reports, research and development information, all data should be protected.

Using Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

It is easy to configure, to upgrade, and to use. [It] just needs better reporting.
