Acronis Cyber Protect vs. LiveVault

If you don't have to manage your client's email and their email archiver Acronis works very well. If you're looking for just a backup service for what's on a particular computer then Acronis is perfect. It is easy to use, so newcomers are not overwhelmed with features.It does not include as robust features as Barracuda and Cloudberry, but it does work well as just a backup.

Our company was originally with VaultLogix which was taken over by LiveVault. The transition to the new product was not as smooth as expected and presented us with issues especially with a restore. Restore and what files needed to be included in the backup policy were not communicated to us correctly and it was not until a customer's server failed that we found out we couldn't do a restore because we were missing files that were needed for a complete restore.

I don't believe it works very well for backups of virtual servers. Installation of the product is user-friendly.

• Image based backups. After the initial backup, the backups happen quite quickly. This allows for multiple backups per day.
• We have different classes of data which requires different retention policies. Acronis makes that easy to manage.
• Restoration can be done directly to hardware or to a VM. This makes it easy to migrate a physical server to a VM.

• Backing up Sharepoint automatically backs up all users with access to Sharepoint even if the user is not needed to be backed up

Acronis Cyber Protect has been reliable for our core use case — host-level VM backup for our Hyper-V environment. The Virtual Host licensing model has worked well for us, letting us cover all VMs on a host under a single license rather than managing per-VM costs, and it gave us the flexibility to migrate the license when we shifted workloads to a different host. Application-consistent backups via VSS integration have also given us confidence in our recovery capability for workloads like SQL Server.

The web layout is very easy to understand. There are many points, all easy to understand; there are many settings, clearly described; and each point is accompanied by a description. In addition, the Protect Cloud is clearly distinguished from the management portal, preventing confusion.

I only got one issue resolved for more than 20 cases open. The escalation is ineffective. Most of the time, I have the feeling that I know the solution better than the support technician. Overall, case management is time-consuming, as our resolution rate is really low

I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.

The integrated cybersecurity feature stands out. The competition does not provide it. Also, there are other services that users can simply turn on from the portal. The EDR solution is really good, and so is the email security. MDR solution also looks promising. Overall, it is very easy to manage everything from the same console.

LiveVault is the only product we have used. The reason is that we chose it initially was the fact you can restore individual files. Also that the data is transferred offsite to a secure data center and data is backed up again, providing a second offsite copy.

The ability to back up multiple servers from one source is a great tool to have for businesses that have equipment in different locations on the same network with a variety of software data to back up such as SQL, Exchange or a Files Server. You can decide to purchase individual server licenses as well if you would like to keep the process separate or have multiple sites where your data is housed.
