AWS Device Farm

AWS Device Farm is perfect for small teams who don't have enough resources to conduct large scale testing scenarios or even large teams who would like an easier time with testing on various devices. [AWS] Device Farm makes it very easy to interact with a multitude of devices right from the browser.

Cons

AWS Device Farm

Tricentis Tosca

  • Image comparison and visual validation is such an important thing today and Tricentis should do more to support these activities.
  • It's a paid tool meaning you have to shell out money to use it.Although it more than does justice for the price.
  • Support to integrate test results with test management tools like HP ALM,Jira-Xray would be nice.

Your team will not require the most technical engineers to use the tool, it is easy to use, and there are very good training materials available on the Tricentis website to start creating test cases in less than a week. The tool user interface is really nice and provides options to customize it for your needs.

We had the enterprise support with AWS, so overall support experience was good with great engineers on the back providing answers. As you may know, overall AWS support is different and this is not different. Responses through the regular web support channel came easily, fast and accurate. We had questions/issues which were solved fast. Documentation is good as well, especially around the test automation pieces.

The vendor support that is provided in terms of Mail, chat, forums, online support is so easy and I haven't seen this with any other tool vendor so far.

AWS Device Farm

I got more features and handy within AWS Device farm than AWS Cloud9

Tricentis Tosca

I have really minimum exposure with QTP and ALM, barely 2 months or so, for this reason I would not like to comment on how Tosca stacks up against them, but something that I really like about Selenium is that it is really simple and easy to setup, doesn't require a heavy application to write automation scripts in it. It's a pretty cost effective means since it is open source. So I would say that it's a great option for someone to choose if they are looking to test only desktop websites.

Return on Investment

AWS Device Farm

  • Quicker testing leads to faster product to market times
  • Can deploy updates much more regularly by testing across many devices quickly

Tricentis Tosca

  • After implementing Tosca we were able to reduce the cycle time that was spent on executing regression tests manually. I would say TOSCA was able to reduce close to 30% of the time that was spent for executing test cases manually.
