Overall Satisfaction with Tricentis Tosca

Tricentis Tosca is an excellent product from Tricentis for codeless test automation. Tosca supports more than 160 technologies allowing organizations to automate their regression and other critical testing suites with easy to maintain and scalable framework. With the help of Distributed executions the execution time can also be exponentially reduced as the overall executions get automatically distributed amongst available virtual agent machines. Their state of the art AI based support portal allows users to find answers to their queries with ease or raise a support ticket for unsolved issues. Their KB articles are truly helpful in providing detailed information on the various features provided by Tosca. Tosca is being used for cloud migrations, database migrations. Tosca is also used for testing application platform upgrades. For couple of projects, Tosca is used for bulk data row-by-row comparison.

Cons

  • The loading time for Tricentis Tosca is bit slow as it has to load tons of features it supports. May be a user preference setup can make it customizable to load only the required features reducing the loading time.
  • Responses on the support tickets are delayed or sometimes redundant which should be reduced.
  • Maybe an upfront release note notification emails to all its users detailing the updates deployed with each of the Tricentis Tosca browser extension. This will help users understand if a technical failure might be due to updated browser extension.
  • Java table scanning on desktop application needs improved performance. It is very slow to steer java tables due to traversing through every single cell up to reaching the desired cell which is really time consuming activity through Tosca.
  • The more we automated, the more value it will add to your investment in Tosca.
  • Automation support for UI, NonUI, DB, etc you name it and they have it supported.
  • VisionAI, Self-Healing, etc are cherry on the cake in Tosca automation
  • Flexibility to have license pack of our choice based on our requirement allows us to keep a check on the pricing as well.
The approach to automate majority of the applications remains very similar allowing better understanding and usability of its features. TDS for data access without actually having Tricentis Tosca client installed allows business users to utilize or verify the created data with ease and stored at a centralized location. Rescanning allows us to adapt/rectify technical changes in the existing modules. TQL helps to perform bulk updates with ease. Tosca repository can be utilized to be shared by multiple projects within the organization allowing them to save on reusable components and also saving on the infrastructure costs. Various administrative features and security features are also very useful in case of having large automation teams or a critical data security sensitive project using Tosca's authorization features.
Tricentis Tosca definitely helps reduce the need for manual testing updates. In fact repetitive task done by manual resources can be quickly completed by Tosca automation with exponentially reduced time and accuracy which is always compromised by manual testing. Over night executions, on demand executions, parallel executions, cross browser executions are top notch features one can exploit to reach higher levels of quality testing. The requirement section in Tosca allows users to weight, track and manage the requirement coverage allow businesses to prepare risk based automation packs, requirement coverage relevant automation packs, etc. The intuitive UI for the Tosca portal having Distributed Execution, User Management, License management, Test Data Service related screens further adds to the feature rich tool experience in Tricentis Tosca.
User friendly interface is key to any tool usage. If the features supported by tool is enormous but the interface is not easy to use, then the product will not reach its optimal usage. Tosca scores high numbers with this regard. The documentations and KB articles it supports are very helpful and allows us to solve our issues independently.

For projects having huge set of test cases to be automated can be accommodated by Tricentis Tosca with proper folder structure and best practices implementations. Tosca will be less appropriate for organizations where the number of automation scripts are limited with hardly any scope of increasing the script count or the cost of automation will be more than the cost of having manual resources as Tosca is a licensed tool.
