Likelihood to Recommend

CS PracticeWorks Software

PracticeWorks is best suited for a smaller office who wants easy to use software without a lot of bells and whistles. It is very user friendly but is limited with customization options. There are better software systems for an office that wants to incorporate extensive marketing with the software. Overall it is easy to use.

EagleSoft

Staff members who use EagleSoft tend to have a positive experience with it. If you are using Patterson imaging or any 3D cone beam hardware from Patterson, then getting Eaglesoft would get a higher recommendation. I would definitely look at the whole playing field though, as there are a lot of options out there.

Pros

CS PracticeWorks Software

  • Scheduling - the schedule is easy to read and color code by procedure, doctor, or patient status.
  • Imaging - we also implement Kodak Imaging through PW and it is great.
  • Overall layout is easy to use.

EagleSoft

  • Colored blocked scheduling
  • Submitting claims/attachements
  • Real-time eligibility

Cons

CS PracticeWorks Software

  • The patient handouts such as treatment plans and billing are very outdated looking.
  • Buggy at times
  • Marketing is behind the times. It is very difficult to run email lists for targeted procedures and no way to send an email blast from PW directly.
Lorie Dunn | TrustRadius Reviewer

EagleSoft

  • The integrated email client has very limited Outlook compatibility, which means any Email Encryption Add-on will not load. Make sure you have a fully compatible Outlook if this is the case.
  • Patterson support has a long hold time, and doesn't deliver the best support around
  • The database must be stopped when you do your backup, which can be inconvenient and disallows hourly backup plans
  • If you are on a Domain, then each PC needs to be set up multiple times, depending on how many users will be using that PC. This can add to the setup

Alternatives Considered

CS PracticeWorks Software

We evaluated Dentrix at the time of purchase. At that time PracticeWorks had bought out our software vendor. We chose to go with Practice Works since they would get a better conversion of our current patients. As time has passed, we have been told Dentrix has more customization options.

EagleSoft

EagleSoft has more functions and is more user friendly than other dental software. The helpline either online or over the phone is always helpful.

EagleSoft

  • EagleSoft integrates imaging, charting and scheduling with other Patterson products, making a slick workstation that works quickly

  • IT costs do go up when using Eaglesoft
