Dataloader.io

It is a great tool for parsing data. Nothing terribly diffiuclt about its function other than the basic knowledge of field nomenclature within SF and its related objects. If you have a basic Admin understanding of how SF operates, the dataloader tool will be pretty simple to use, understand and teach

Jitterbit

This is a great tool for bringing data out of your locked, internal systems and getting it into the cloud. It meshes well with Salesforce and is fairly easy to use, helping the transition from other older, more complex tools into a more modern environment. It has lots of competition in this space and some are better than others, but if your data is straight forward and you know it well, Jitterbit will get the job done. If you are not as close or comfortable with your data and need to do some wildly complex migrations, there might be better packages out there for you.

Pros

Dataloader.io

  • Extracting Salesforce attachments in original file format! I do not know of a tool that can do this better, or more efficiently! This is a huge benefit to companies that would like to extract attachments from Salesforce for tasks like data migrations.
  • Cross-object data extract within one file. You can pull data from related objects as long as there is a populated lookup from the object you are extracting, to another object (Child or Parent).
  • UI is simple and requires very little to no training. Given the acquisition of Mulesoft by Salesforce, I would not be surprised if DataLoader.IO is rolled out as the new global data loading tool for Salesforce.

Jitterbit

  • UI is super easy to understand with a low learning curve so admins can figure it out and maintain it without breaking anything.
  • It's FREE! There's a paid version too but I like that you can use most of the features for free and they're not pushy with buying.
  • There's a great user community that you can google and ask any questions. Most problems I've encountered have been posted and answered already.

Cons

Dataloader.io

  • Update option is being rarely used, unsure about the difference between upsert and update.
  • Always get errors when setting the batch API as a large number.
  • Sometimes I get loading errors when the number of records that need to be loaded is large.

  • Migrating operations from QA to Production work well for initial deployment, however, when migrating an update to an existing job to production, sometimes certain project items are duplicated. This is not the end of the world... the duplicates can be removed, but would be nice if it was not required.
  • I have not found a way to trap under-the-covers SOAP errors (for example, when a query you are running against Salesforce takes too long). You get a warning error in the operation log that the job only pulled a "partial" file, but it does not fail.

It is easy to use and doesn't require a security token, so I enjoy using it. It also doesn't require any download or installation, which is sometimes a blocker to gettingthings done if the company has limits. also, the dataloader.io is easy for other people to pick up, so others can have visibility into the data jobs that have occurred

I have been evaluating other tools as a continuous improvement practice. I would like something that would be easier to use for a non-technical user. I work for a small organization and have no back-up for Jitterbit if something happens to me. We don't have the technically savvy employees to understand it.

The interface is extremely easy to use. If you have ever interacted with salesforce and loading tool then you can Work this tool with ease! It also matches up perfect with our business use case and onboarding process. Like I said, this is beyond critical for our business to function and be successful

Customer support might be where Dataloader.io saves money. Most of the competitors offer 24/7 live support but Dataloader.io only offers support via email and the community. Those types of support work fine until you need an answer right away. Some questions can't wait until the next business day or business hours for a reply.

Alternatives Considered

Dataloader.io

Dataloader.io is superior to the build in Salesforce data loader. There have been several occasions, particularly on leads, contacts and account records, where I get can error in Salesforce data loader, but am able to to successfully, and accurately load the same file through Dataloader.io. It seems that Dataloader.io is not as sensitive to formatting, particularly if a file has a mix of domestic and international phone numbers, but the quality of the data loads is just as good.

Jitterbit

Evaluated Dell Boomi and Celigo as alternatives prior to purchasing Jitterbit. We went with Jitterbit at that time because we could handle all changes ourselves without any assistance from Jitterbit, and we liked their size and nimbleness. Dell Boomi was too big for us, and Celigo at that time did not have a self-service model. Every change had to go through them (although that has since changed). We were not in a position to be able to wait for someone to make changes for us given the rate of change within the business.

Return on Investment

Dataloader.io

  • Increased employee efficiency, leading to happier sales reps and ultimately larger revenue.
  • Positive impact on quality of our data by giving us a way to load data in bulk that had to be cleaned outside of Salesforce.
  • Quickness and reliability, leading to better customer service with our sales reps.
  • Our constituents express confidence in our ability to upload data on a regular basis.

Jitterbit

  • The time it takes to connect systems has reduced by orders of magnitude. Previously, we would custom-develop connectors between various systems and they would all be managed by different vendors. With Jitterbit speed-to-deploy and the efficiency gained by managing all connections in one dashboard has been the greatest piece of the ROI.
