I've had HR professionals ask about using it for interviews. Gone are the days where we have to spend hundreds of dollars to fly candidates in or limit ourselves to phone interviews. Vidyo with it's high reliability has saved the organization thousands in travel costs with candidate recruitment. Business meetings that can often be troubling to get leaders and executive all in one room, Vidyo has functioned extraordinarily well in bringing in people from home, on the road, or the airport. Mobile capabilities are easy and fast. Quick daily calls and chats in the office are probably best suited for the free options out there as Vidyo is not a free service like others. Better yet general phone calls will suffice.

Miro
It is great for ideation, collaboration, visual display of information. It's great as a central source of truth as well as agendas, meetings, and project ideation. It's not suited for spreadsheet-like execution of projects, calculations, pro formas, etc. Its robustness can cause overwhelm for new users, especially with highly detailed boards. Its design functionality acts as a perfect first step, but going to something like Canva is more suited for final graphics and presentations.

Pros
Enghouse
  • I didn't have to sign up, I just need to log into the "room" I was supposed to, so unlike Skype or other instruments, I didn't need to spend time and create my own account.
  • To be honest, the largest online class I've attended had 10 people in it (besides the teacher), but it was a good quality connection.
  • I enjoyed the ability to ask questions or clarifications in the chat (without having to turn on my microphone, so that the teacher could answer the question when he/she finished the thought).

Miro
  • Visualization of concepts. Very easy to create diagrams, journey maps, cluster information together
  • Collaborative work. Sometimes I create activities where we do some individual work and then converge together as a group, the ability to do that all in one board and then have the information in one place is really valuable.
  • Planning. Super easy to create detailed plans, move things around, leave comments. Especially love the 'cards' where you can even put status progress and assign to specific person

Cons
Enghouse
  • The design and the branding give little to be desired
  • Customer support is below average
  • The API must be rewritten and add more functions that are commonly requested.
  • Project codes are not well maintained and hard to find.

  • Im having trouble working with the timeline when I add a card as an object, as im not able to open it again to edit some of the card elements.
  • I had issues with the dot voting in the past as the dots would not adjust shape/size. I'm not sure if this has now been solved.
  • The most important: Please allow to export in PDF or any format, only specific frames or parts of the board.

There is no other tool like Miro for process Mapping in particular. I've tried PowerPoint, Word, and other programs, but when collaborating virtually on how to improve a process, Miro has all of the tools and more to enable successful mapping. The colors, different types of shapes and text books, along with the ability to integrate different documents and other functionality, make it ideal for this purpose. In a virtual world, it's a must-have.

I would rate Miro's overall usability a 10 as well. The platform's intuitive design and user-friendly interface make it incredibly easy to navigate and use, even for those who are new to it. The drag-and-drop functionality, along with a wide range of templates and tools, allows for seamless collaboration and creativity. Additionally, the real-time collaboration features enable our team to work together efficiently, regardless of location. The integration with other tools we use daily further enhances our workflow, making Miro an indispensable part of our toolkit. Overall, Miro's usability has significantly improved our productivity and collaboration, making it a top choice for our team.

Miro
I only give a 9/10 because of the speed at which it loads. I have never experienced issues with Miro logging me out early, or some other technical issue causing the program to crash, or even it just loading in perpetuity without ever actually coming up (unlike other programs such as SFDC). It take a minute for all of my boards to come up after I click on it in my favorites, but besides that, it's all good.

I took the loading quickly to be related to availability which I commented on before, so ditto with those comment on load time here. Although to reemphasize, Miro doesn't crash or just refuse to load like some other programs. The weak point of Miro for me is integration of files like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (especially the later two). When you embed these, it gets slow, and complicated to bring them up while you're in the application.

Support Rating

We have an internal tech team dedicated to setup and troubleshooting of Vidyo. This makes it very easy, because we have access to our own employees for help. Rarely have I or anyone I work with had to escalate something to Vidyo themselves, and we're lucky to have the internal administrators that run the show. Almost like Vidyo is ours and ours alone.

We have never reached out to or contacted support because Miro's platform has been incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. The comprehensive resources available, such as tutorials, documentation, and community forums, have provided all the guidance we needed. The seamless integration with our existing tools and the reliability of the platform have ensured that we rarely encounter issues that require external assistance. This self-sufficiency has allowed us to focus more on our projects and collaboration without interruptions. Overall, our experience with Miro has been smooth and efficient, eliminating the need for additional support

Miro
There was a series of webinars which Miro hosted with our organization that went over the basics, then progressively became more advanced with additional sections. The instructors were knowledgeable, and provided examples throughout the sessions, as well as answered peoples' questions. There was ample time and experience on the calls to cover a range of topics. The instructors were also very friendly and sociable, as well as honest. Of course Miro isn't a "God-tool" that does absolutely everything, but the instructors were aware and emphasized the strengths where Miro had them and sincerely accepted feedback.

As I was the one responsible to onboard Miro to my organization, I feel that Miro leaves you hanging on the starting process, but it's not difficult to learn. It has micro-messages along the way to get you started on how to use spaces, and permissions. One of the main things that cost me to understand was how seats worked and how to get people from the outside of the organization to be able to collaborate on boards. Once you have the structure aligned to your business, adding new people to the team is a breeze.

Vidyo gives all of the competitors a run for their money. Since it works seamlessly, is easy to use, and has a clean UI. Screenshare could benefit from some work, like the ability to share multiple screens from different users at the same time. The search function could be improved, but overall, it's a great software.

Milanote doesn't offer the mind map functionality and is so rigid. Microsoft Visio is overpriced, does not have a collaborative feature, and was very clunky. Adobe PhotoShop is a great artistic tool, but it is not easy to use for brainstorming. I tried

Miro is great for scaling. In every department and subdivision across my entire organization, there is someone using it. From Sales to marketing, to manufacturing and operations; and even in legal and finance, there isn't a process or a department that is not using Miro, and if they aren't, they're missing out! Even at the highest to the lowest levels of the organization, it is essential for virtual collaboration.

  • It did help us reach the objective of education - after a while, everyone had a chance to connect and the quality of video/audio once you're in is great. It's just getting there that isn't up to par (but hopefully would be changed in next versions).

  • Using a Miro board as an Obeya for a business decreases time to on-board a new executive to the leadership team by 66%.
  • The time it takes for a musical artist and a designer to collaborate -- from ideation to printing -- on an album cover decreased from 2.5 weeks to 2.5 hours.
  • Marketing planning now takes hours instead of weeks.
