Newired

Newired is helpful in the on-boarding process for new staff. It does take time to get the system set up properly for all of the different applications that we use on a daily basis, but I believe that overall it cuts down on the time it takes to train people, especially as we are growing a lot and welcoming many new staff members. Some staff members are still reluctant to use it though, or prefer to try to figure things out themselves or speak with a supervisor.

WalkMe

WalkMe is well suited to relatively simple platforms that don't have a great deal of customization on the back end. If your platform that WalkMe is installed on has a lot of homegrown features and functionality, you might have a hard time with the development and implementation phase, and your customers might not see the benefits for quite some time

WalkMe

  • Walk-thrus: It's their bread and butter and where they excel. I can take someone that is familiar with our product and using WalkMe they can quickly build engaging walk-thrus that walk a user from the beginning to the end of a process. Using the logic engine built into WalkMe they can build rules for error messages, wrong turns, abandoned pages, or even steps that require them to wait while they leave our system and come back a day later.
  • Launchers: Another one of their staples, but a great tool. We can tie these launchers to an element on a page and quickly add help to a page. We have also used this to overcome design flaws. We added a button to a page and it is used more than the hardcoded link to the same page.
  • Goals: Goals can be added to each walk-thru and allow us to track the effectiveness of our walk-thrus and the behavior of our users. Sometimes a walk-thru will expose unexpected behaviors of our users. Goals will also continue to track after a user closes the walk-thru. So we will still know the outcome of a walk-thru even if the users feels that they can continue without the walk-thru.

Cons

Newired

  • Some of the systems we use are outdated or customized for us, and these don't interface as well with Newired
  • Sometimes new staff are reluctant to use Newired because it is yet another new application
  • Easier integration with Google systems would be appreciated

WalkMe

  • The main drawback I am facing in WalkMe is that they are lacking in providing the inbuilt templates. There is a huge need for templates which saves a lot of time and effort also helps in being productive more at work.
  • The platform is lacking somehow in syncing with other tools which are very frustrating for me also it gets slow while logging in.

WalkMe has done a great job of making their tool easy to use. However because it is a Firefox plugin it causes me to need another browser and sacrifice the left 2 - 3 inches of my display, when working on a laptop this makes it a bit painful. Also when publishing you can organize your list of walk-thrus, the window size is small and limited to the constraints of the WalkMe tool.

The WalkMe Support Team was phenomenal. My support rep made a genuine effort to ensure my success with using the WalkMe Software. She was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable on the software. If there was a question she did not know the answer too, she would find the answer and get back to me as soon as possible

Alternatives Considered

Newired

Newired is the first digital adoption product that we have used, although we did consider other options in the selection process. Newired was competitively priced and we liked the user interface – it seemed easy to use and relatively simple to set up. Overall, we are happy with Newired so far.

WalkMe

Much better application compared to its competitors and highly advanced workflows and user friendly platform makes it a great application to be used. Along with that if you get a highly knowledgeable helpdesk and support I think it makes much of our lives easier in having this implemented. I would say its a best application for digital platform.

Return on Investment

Newired

  • Newired has increased capacity by cutting down on the time it takes to train new employees
  • Allowed us to review usage and efficacy of systems
  • Integrate systems across different departments and platforms

WalkMe

  • It's helped promote new features to customers and get them to use them. This is important for retaining customers.
  • We probably haven't had a return on investment yet due to the product being very expensive and requiring a lot of time to set up and maintain.
