Preqin is a provider of data, analytics and insights to the alternative assets community headquartered in London. Their flagship platform is Preqin Pro, a data and analytics source for alternatives. Preqin also produces research reports, as well as tools for analytics, portfolio management, and due diligence to help fund managers and allocators to make the best possible investment decisions.
We use both PitchBook and Preqin. We believe PitchBook's research is superior to other competitors in this space, and I like how they make the Excel file data available for every article/chart they produce... very customer-friendly. I also feel like PitchBook is ahead of many …

We switched over for Preqin and haven't looked back, Preqin felt as a pay-as-you-go system and as a relatively young alternatives program we kept facing paywalls so not ideal.

Preqin has better market data, but PitchBook is better for looking at individual funds.
I think the key thing is both are lacking in the data quality, and I would rather have no data than poor data.

• Preqin has up to date and largely reliable fund performance information. The information like this on PitchBook is unusuable. I don't trust it in the slightest. If more sources were offered I might consider taking a closer look at it. • CapIQ is the home base for all public …

Products mentioned have similar but different use cases. First off, PB has better private company data than both of these (for now). I use CapIQ for public company data which PB lacks in many regards. I could see Alpha Sense taking priority over PB as the data offered on that …

Response specific to my line of work - The other sources we have don't carry in-depth tech market information. As such, PitchBook is my go-to source. Further, it also carries information about organizations providing services in various service lines and industry verticals …

I think they are all similar but PitchBook has more data around startups and not only focused on LPs so we can get more out of this tool than the others that are predominantly focused on LPs.

PitchBook excels at private company data and has significantly improved its coverage of investors and funds. It is generally more easy to navigate and information is updated frequently. It is not nearly as strong with public, credit or market data including access to news and …

PitchBook is excellent for building a rolodex of contacts, especially for firms which may be newer and lacking an established reputation within their given industry. I have used it as a tool to identify groups which may be interested in equity investments in one-off real estate deals, though the platform more prominently features groups which are more interested in programmatic/JV fund structures. PitchBook can also be useful as a tool for identifying industry trends, as it tends to capture creation of new funds and their investment appetites at any given time.

It would be nice to have the best parts of the deal tab merged into the general information tab for a company.
If possible, gather more information on certain executives. There are use cases where our clients want us to research candidates who may not have much information on LinkedIn or RocketReach.

I think its a great platform as is. Its usable and we get most of the information as and when we need. I don't like the landing page after login, so I don't like to go to PitchBook every day to review daily updates on the industry. It's way too cluttered and requires MFA every time

The overall support for PitchBook is about average. It is not excellent for two primary reasons. First, PitchBook can run slow from time to time, and I cannot copy and paste from the Chrome extension. I have found neither of those issues to be a function of the computer I am using. However, the PitchBook support team has proved helpful on several occasions.

I also use SignalNFX, but it doesn't exist in the dropbox. Signal is a much more practical tool when it comes to a preliminary search, and when it comes to connecting with the right person. It scrapes your gmail history and linkedin to find who you're really connected to and figures out how to leverage that to get an intro. Sales NAVIGATOR is better for massive outbound, but not very relevant otherwise. PitchBook's real value is in the database. It won't help you reach out, but it sure will find you every single VC firm that could ever invest in your company.
