Likelihood to Recommend As a project management tool, especially with more straightforward timelines and components, ProjectLibre is a great alternative to some of the costly PM software tools. I have managed many projects with both
MS Project and ProjectLibre, and I think ProjectLibre is a great alternative, especially when I've worked in regions of the world where users cannot afford other PM tools.
Read full review We use it for both support and project management alike. It's not as bloated or indeed as expensive as
Jira , so unless you have particularly complex requirements, YouTrack fits the bill in pretty much the same use cases as
Jira does.
The interface is also a good deal nicer on the eye and less clunky than a lot of the Open Source (eg.
Redmine ) and enterprise (eg. Remedy).
It does have a customisable workflow for things like ticket age alerts. We don't make a great deal of use of this and had found that it can take a little fiddling if you want something very bespoke but it is clearly quite powerful.
Read full review Pros ProjectLibre is great for project management. It allows us to establish milestones and timeline planning for projects. It allows us to stay organized among multiple projects. It is extremely simple to use with a simple interface. It takes little time to plan out a project with key dates and provides a nice graphic. There have been instances where you try to create a new task and all the diagrams and other items get messed up Read full review We're actually very happy YouTrack users and have yet to come across a scenario where any of the team felt the product was lacking. Read full review Support Rating There are a lot of discussions online about it, and a customer addition based manual. While that can lead to some confusion, I am not the kind of person who likes talking on the phone. So it is easier to go online with ProjectLibre!
Read full review Alternatives Considered We decided to go with ProjectLibre because it is a free tool and there is a great community that supports us in case there are any questions or concerns about the software. This has allowed us to be able to invest time without having to worry about licensing costs or anything else.
Read full review You Track holds it's own against
Jira considering the price difference.
Jira does allow for more customization and can do more ultimately but You Track is not to be trifled with. With a powerfully intuitive UI it can arguably be a better choice for certain companies and individuals alike. They really did a great job.
Read full review Return on Investment ProjectLibre is free so it has allowed us to collaborate on MS Project files for users that run a Mac or Linux machine Learning curve is minimal since it so closely resembles MS Project Not all MS Project features (especially the newer editions) are present but it's best for users that are not the primary PM to user ProjectLibre. Read full review YouTrack is inexpensive and isn't something we question the value of when it comes to renewal The team and our clients have positive things to say about the product. This is often not the case with JIRA in my experience. Some snobbier project managers from other companies will grumble about software like YouTrack because it isn't familiar to them, but this attitude is misleading and unfair as the product is every bit as capable.
