Definitely works well for any furniture company that wants one program that will help almost every aspect of your company run more smoothly. There is a learning curve to learn all of the functions and reports to take full advantage of all of the things RETAILvantage can do, but you will start seeing your business run more smoothly right away. The other nice things about RETAILvantage is that they have recently been partnering with other technologies to help the entire business, i.e. a truck scheduling technology, a review technology, a website company, etc

Square for Retail is simple, easy to account for, and serves most purposes that a business like ours needs. There are very few drawbacks once it's up and running. For a company like ours who wants to emphasize experience from the time the customer walks in the door to the time they walk out, and where cost is important, Square for Retail provides an awesome interface for the customer, with attractive, easy to use terminals, and a very accessible price point where we can get set up with a clean, attractive, and functional point of sale system while starting up. We have no intentions of moving away from Square for Retail as long as it maintains its quality and support.

Pros
Korber Supply Chain (formerly HighJump)
  • Keeping track of inventory- making POs, receiving, and tracking any movement of the inventory.
  • Keeping track of all customer's purchases- it keeps all sales for 8-10 years in the history.
  • Keeping all of our customer's information organized, you can print out reports by purchases within a date range and can even do it by categories or vendors they purchased.

Cons
Korber Supply Chain (formerly HighJump)
  • It is not an accounting program, it does simple accounting reports and actions but it doesn't do some things in detail so we have to manually do a few entries.
  • RETAILvantage is constantly updating and making changes to improve based on customer input.

  • This may just be me, but I want some additional customizations for our biggest annual fundraiser, so that we can differentiate between donations, chance drawings, etc.

We decided to stay with RETAILvantage because it is user-friendly and does more than just inventory and point of sale.

Stripe is more suited for internet or online order forms and businesses for which it integrates. It works well and same as Square with similar fees. Stripe however does not send a physical card reader by default and is not as large of a company. We chose Square due to the integrations it offers, ease of use, and familiarity clients have with existing card readers to make them more comfortable.
