Appian is excellent for use in both the analysis arena and ongoing operations support. The speed to solution and quality of solution is at the top of the market.
The configurability of the system gives the user the flexibility to address almost any route problem imaginable. Analysts have the ability to recreate the "world" to fit their customer's needs rather than forcing the customer into a predetermined framework.
The installation of the software is flexible and can be structured to fit any work group's format, from a centralized core to a distributed mobile analysis team.
Planning and execution area for carriers is not covered fully. It has scenarious covered, but its mainly manual and not suited for high volumes and loads

Trailer swap functionality is like 10 steps process, which is highly manually consuming and is not efficient for company operating >5000 trucks and trailers
SAP TM delivers strong value in planning, cost control, and system integration. While complex and sometimes heavy to maintain, its long-term benefits and alignment with SAP’s digital logistics roadmap make renewal very likely.
Many issues with the system and I will probably recommend other type of software if the question arises. Because of the investment my company has made, I will use the system for now.
Overall rating is 8 as it is easy to use and navigate, creates purchase requisites and order with less complexity, no complex and analytical training required which helps to onboard the person easily on this software, even if have problem you figure it out by your own by simply searching on net or SAP customer support
It allows to integrate an e2e flow from business process to finance and people management, which in logistic business are the resources for logistic execution. Analytics are obviously allows us to analyze the metrics and make data driven decisions.
Appian was best suited for an analysis environment both functionally and from a cost structure standpoint. Other packages are targeting ongoing operations and their cost structures reflect that goal. The purely analytical environment can underestimated in these situations. There is definitely a need for non operation specific analysis tools in the marketplace.
Enables movement of code changes through the landscape seamlessly
We have a busy shop and it doesn't matter if a project with 1000+ changes or 100 changes, the system handles it very well. The business is happy that we can move all these changes at one go
One feature would be to identify if the changes are to some core objects in the system then take an automatic backup or at least give that option.
Improved service to customers by being more aware of ETA's and how they relate to each store's receiving hours.
Reduced transportation costs in dynamic environment where routes are optimized daily using Direct Route.
Better customer service to field by generating e-mail notifications for following day's ETA's, along with notifications when trips are behind schedule.
