Skrill vs. Xoom, a PayPal Service (personal use only)

Skrill is my preferred way of doing money transactions abroad typically when I need a safe secured and efficient way of sending money overseas and the amount is low. Most other portals tend to charge a transfer fee for lower amounts but Skrill does not charge a transaction fee when I use the ACH Transfer even for lower amounts. For personal use, I have used the debit card to fuel transactions and it allows you the same facility as the debit card. If I need to complete the transaction within a day and want the money to be available in the receiving account overseas the same day, I prefer another portal that has the option of express service that Skrill does not offer.

Xoom is best suited to send and receive money between two people who live in different countries, not only that we can also send money to our friends, colleagues, family members directly in their bank accounts. They have a great currency exchange functionality that directly converts our received money into our local currency, and deposits it into our bank account within a few minutes. The only drawback is that not many people know about it, it needs good marketing so that more people can use this service, and from my experience, I can say it is very secure and a good competitor of Payoneer.

• It is a global payment processor that accepts payments from all around the world.
• Because of the high security requirements for signing in, no one can readily access the account.

• Very fast transfer and very secure as being of PayPal.
• Receiver don't need to download the app or use Xoom.
• It supports bank and debit card to transfer funds and same with the receiver.

• Skrill's UI can be bloated and slow sometimes, and overcomplicated
• There are some issues with localization and language, some concepts didn't see to be translated properly
• What an e-wallet is, is not super clear to potential users

• Some destinations take longer to get delivered to.
• Higher amounts of money are harder to transfer.
• High fees when trying to add funds to new card.

We ended up using Tipalti which seems to have solved our specific needs better, though it is more expensive.

I don't see any other service that is so versatile and which offers such a breadth of services.

It's one of the most easy to use and intuitive platforms. The app is very powerful as well.

The implementation was largely successful. Since this was a large shift from normal practices, we faced a few teething problems, but largely I'd say it went well.

I use different payment systems depending on the goal. Skrill is good when my contractor prefers this way of payment. Also, Skrill is a preferred payment option in many online services, which makes it easy to use. Also, Skrill issues a real plastic Visa card you can use like any bank card.

We agreed to select Xoom as the main payment method since it had more flexible options. It gives the user a full guarantee of transacting safely and when there is a conflict the customer support team acts quickly. The charges for sending and receiving money are relatively low as compared to other platforms. The mobile application has biometric login features making it difficult for unauthorized users to access confidential information.

• I can quickly deposit my international multi-currency account without making an expensive wire transfer, with no border restriction as long as I have the mobile app with me.
• Skrill is very convenient for each transfer amount up to EURO 2,500, and EURO 15,000/monthly.
• Possibility of hiring freelancers for my company with immediate payments.

• We have had an uptick in payment processing times.
• We receive payments from customers on time with no lag between invoice and payment dates.
• Overall Xoom has literally added to our bottom line by allowing more than a physical check payment option.
