We utilize Acquia DAM as a way to store our files and photos for the entire organization. The problem the product addresses is our ability to store and use files state wide for our organization.

Since we are a statewide organization it is easy for us to upload files and be able to download them when we need to - it also allows for multiple people to access files in an instance compared to other services
I have used Acquia DAM to search for digital assets when I was onboarded to my organization. The search feature does not feel intuitive at all. There are times that I've tried to look for a certain asset and have not found it, only have another coworker find it for me later on. It is very frustrating and I personally have a hard time using the platform. As a result, I try not to use the DAM when possible but it is inevitable.

Acquia DAM is helpful when looking to organize our digital assets in a central location. In some ways, it does feel more secure than Google Drive but I cannot really speak to that. Overall, I've found a great amount of assets since the inception of the organization but there are times when I wish we could just have them sorted into an archive automatically.
I use Acquia DAM for Digital photo management and storage with the added benefits of being able to tag the contents in the photos and organize them according to specific needs. By uploading the mass photo drops and having correct tags we are able to quickly go through specific images needed from whatever timeframe or event.
Pros
Tagging
Organizing
Management
Cons
Mass photo uploads
Easier to tag
Auto tagging

Acquia DAM is very much capable of helping break down large quantities of data and specifically storage of photos videos and more. One place this could be an issue is if there are long form versions of content that require a massive amount of tagging or relying on the content like captions etc.
Our Acquia DAM is one of the most powerful platforms currently used by our business. We house all final versions of digital assets within it, use collections and portals as a way to share digital assets with third parties, such as convention attendees and media. Additionally, we have an API which allows us to display assets in our CMS, and on our flagship websites, straight from our DAM.
Pros
Uploads are easy, thanks to the Upload Wizard and pre-configured upload profiles.
Using WYSIWYG functionality, it's incredibly easy to build a beautiful dashboard for users.
Adding or editing metadata is simple since the UI allows you to type directly into the fields of your choosing.
Cons
I'd love to see more reporting available, and I know this is something they are currently working on. In particular, to see where assets are embedded.
In the Admin dashboard, it would be fantastic to be able to change the way assets are divided. For example, when I access the Assets with Empty Required Metadata queue, I'd like the option to view all, rather than viewing only based on Asset Group. This would allow me to export a report that includes all of those assets.
Bring bulk editing to the modern search experience!

As a global company, we use Widen as its intended use as a true DAM. Any finalized corporate images, literature, videos, etc are housed here to be shared with other employees or customers as needed.
We segment the DAM by region (North America, Europe, Australia) and control permissions accordingly so users see relevant assets. We then tag the assets heavily with metadata to provide the best search and filter results as we can.
Pros
Asset Share Options via Links
Asset Versioning
Customer Support/Communication
Uptime
Metadata Options
Cons
Better Portal Management: Customization options, layers of portals
Analytics (especially for Portals)
Better sharing of collections

Widen's true strength is being able to share assets with a link. Being able to share any type of asset via a simple link and knowing the link will always be up to date with the latest version really simplifies the process and there's not a lot of different files floating around.
Version management has improved and I can't recommend the combination of these features enough.
We use Widen as a central place to store, share, and publish our assets. It is also tied in to our customer-facing system to manage and deliver content to thousands of users. The analytics that Widen provides allows us to asses the frequency with which our assets are viewed and downloaded.
Pros
Metadata is easy to define.
It is easy to narrow one's search using the metadata fields.
It is easy to upload assets.
Cons
It would be great if the simple portal options for layout were expanded. It's very limited right now.

Widen is excellent for any company looking to manage their assets in a safe, central space that allows for easy searching and sharing. Sharing assets in a portal to a user group enables us to provide access to specific groups of assets in a controlled environment.
We used Widen to organize our marketing resources internally and to share them externally with our partners via the portals. We work with foodservice distributors, retailers, and restaurant owners to advertise our product. This platform allowed us to share our logo files, photos, videos, and training tools. We loved how we could organize our assets internally. It was more difficult to provide the "search" capabilities with our external partners via the portals. Widen had a good onboarding process with our team and did take feedback from us. However, there were just some functions and capabilities they could not provide so we ended up switching providers.
Pros
Adding Metadata
Version Control
Bulk Editing
Cons
Search Capabilities in Portals
Having to build our own images for use in portals to make it more visual

Widen is a great digital asset manager internally. I loved the framework that the platform has. However, we created a main portal to share with our external partners so we could control what was private and what was public. The portal framework was not as user-friendly and we tried too much to make it like a website when it was meant to be a DAM. The main reason we switched providers is that we wanted to have the option to have a consistent framework internally and externally that was more user-friendly with better search capabilities.
Our company uses Acquia DAM to organize and share our digital assets across our company, provide access to our assets for our sales partners and vendors, and assure brand consistency throughout our portfolio. Before our system was set up, there was a lot of variability across our marketing efforts, and files would be lost or not readily accessible. The DAM has streamlined our efforts and increased collaboration and accessibility.
Pros
Organizing assets.
Making assets easily searchable to quickly find what you need.
Having a wide variety of sharing options to make assets accessible to a wide audience.
Cons
Better AI tools for search (tagging).
More customization on portal design.

Acquia DAM is well suited for large companies that need to organize and control the flow of assets being used by their teams and vendors. It provides much better control than file storage sites like Dropbox, where there's little control over what goes where and almost non-functional search functionality. If you're a smaller company, you may be able to get by or have someone dedicated to doing so, but for larger companies, it really takes a lot of the manual work out of it!
