We Love the Acquia DAM!

Overall Satisfaction with Acquia DAM (Widen)

Our Acquia DAM is one of the most powerful platforms currently used by our business. We house all final versions of digital assets within it, use collections and portals as a way to share digital assets with third parties, such as convention attendees and media. Additionally, we have an API which allows us to display assets in our CMS, and on our flagship websites, straight from our DAM.

Pros

  • Uploads are easy, thanks to the Upload Wizard and pre-configured upload profiles.
  • Using WYSIWYG functionality, it's incredibly easy to build a beautiful dashboard for users.
  • Adding or editing metadata is simple since the UI allows you to type directly into the fields of your choosing.

Cons

  • I'd love to see more reporting available, and I know this is something they are currently working on. In particular, to see where assets are embedded.
  • In the Admin dashboard, it would be fantastic to be able to change the way assets are divided. For example, when I access the Assets with Empty Required Metadata queue, I'd like the option to view all, rather than viewing only based on Asset Group. This would allow me to export a report that includes all of those assets.
  • Bring bulk editing to the modern search experience!
  • The DAM has had an extremely positive impact on our business. Instead of having content living all over the place, such as on hard drives, our entire business is able to access what they need in their moment of need. It is a game changer.
  • Our business revenue is split between two different entities and we have a firewall between them. With the permission structure of the DAM, we are able to keep assets separated as needed.
  • Using Paths, we have streamlined our asset review process, allowing our content managers to receive automated notifications at key times. This allows me, as the admin, to focus on other work.
I have used the support team on several occasions to assist with technical issues and questions. Generally speaking, they do a great job. However, I have had a few experiences where it feels like one hand doesn't talk to the other or the frontline support agent did not understand my issue. This is all typical stuff, and overall I enjoy working with them. I do not hesitate to reach out if I need something.
