Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud solves almost all of our security and backup needs in a true single pane of glass. We need to efficiently service and manage our client's security and infrastructure. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud allows this in a much simpler manner that we were doing previously.

I cannot recommend Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and their support team enough.

  • True single pane of glass for all services.
  • Extended security options throughout the business infrastructure.

Cons

  • I would like to see them add Email Encryption to their portfolio
  • A couple of their products are partnerships and I would like to see them brought under Acronis ownership
  • I would like to see more support for ARM CPU

The services are easy to learn and manage. The support team is very competent and resolves my issues that come s up easily. As a business partner, they are proactive in offering solutions and help to improve what we are doing. They are always there for engineering solutions that we are not sure how to do.

Thanks to Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud's hardware-independent universal backup feature, we seamlessly restored a client's lost notebook at the operating system level to a newly purchased one with internet access. After landing from a flight, the client couldn't access their notebook and had a conference presentation approaching. In a short time, we completed the restoration process, allowing the client to access the presentation they had prepared the night before. This swift and effective solution became a confidence-boosting success story for both the client and our team.

As an IT MSP, we manage multiple clients with distributed workforces. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud's centralized dashboard lets us monitor, schedule backups, and run security scans for all clients from one interface. We had a client whose main server suffered a critical hardware failure, bringing their business to a standstill. Thanks to Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud’s disaster recovery capabilities, we quickly restored their systems from the latest backup.

Fuss free and full featured backup product you can rely on

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Reliable and easy to use product that is full of features. We use it to back up our Hyper-V virtual servers to local storage and the Acronis cloud. The product just works after setting it up and you dont need to fuss with it all of the time to ensure you are actually being backed up.

Pros

  • Easy setup
  • Auto updating agents
  • Reliable backups
  • Easy to use interface
  • Reliable alerting
  • Flexible backup plans

Cons

  • Large datasets to the cloud have trouble
  • Some tasks require you to poke the web API
  • Interface is designed for MSPs and not IT Departments

Likelihood to Recommend

It is great being able to log into the web interface from anywhere and checking on my backups or an alert. Not needing to log into each specific agent is great. I appreciate how the agents dont need to be messed with after setting them up. They auto update and just seem to work without having to troubleshoot them.

Acronis Advanced Backup review

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Acronis Advanced Backup has been an interesting product to learn and use. This year we integrated it into our RMM and that has streamlined our operation. We use the product primarily for endpoint data protection although we have 2 cloud servers configured for bare metal recovery. On two instances we had issues recovering data and the help desk resolved the issue within a few hours. The staff has been very knowledgeable and assisting in changing some configurations to prevent the issue from happening again. Overall great product.

Pros

  • Incremental backups, easy to configure
  • Recovery of granular files very easy
  • Bare metal backup with incremental was a bit more complex but functions very well
  • Bare metal recovery works but, as expected dependent on internet speed

Cons

  • The documentation has improved over the years but still has some holed - tech support is always there to help
  • SEIM reporting could be improved. The alerts are fine but integration to SEIM is weak

Likelihood to Recommend

The endpoint protection is fantastic. Being able to recover a single file on the fly has saved many customers hours of frustration. Long term recovery of O365 data has worked well. I bit more difficult but not Acronis Advanced Backup issue, it has been MS issues.

Nothing beats on premise backup / recovery speed but, when it is not available, Acronis Advanced Backup gets the job done for bare metal recovery.

Why I Have Continued Utilizing Acronis Advanced Backup For Over 11 Years

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I primarily use Acronis Advanced Backup as a way to create bootable media to create and deploy images of various Windows-based laptops/desktops. Acronis Advanced Backup makes it incredibly easy to add entire folders of device drivers to these boot drives so that there's never an issue with display or input devices working while in their linux-based boot menus. Their product suite also offers live-device backups, as well as anti-virus services.

Pros

  • Creating Bootable Media for image creation
  • Allows you to create differential backups to an existing archive
  • Includes on-premises antivirus protection and quarantine services as bundled in their product suite
  • Includes additional tools like DriveCleanser for fully wiping drives/data destruction.

Cons

  • They do not sell their product directly, so a reseller is needed - or third party website to process payments for them in order to download the product suite.
  • They have done away with stand-alone software purchases, and have moved to a yearly subscription-based model. It's affordable, but you never truly "own" the software now.

Likelihood to Recommend

I've been using Acronis Advanced Backup since 2014 to create bootable media for image creation. The GUI has changed over the years, but the ease of use and functionality has remained the same. I have been able to utilize the newest version of Acronis Advanced Backup with backups that were created a decade ago. The backwards compatibility has been crucial to keep our operations moving quickly!

Unified Backup Solution

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use it for two of our companies, primarily for backing up some workstations and some file servers. The file servers host some QuickBooks Company files, so I utilize as a main backup solution additional to the backup service offers as part of their annual QuickBooks subscription. Since it integrates malware and virus protection, I do not need to spend more money on a separate program.

Pros

  • Bare metal/Image backup
  • Backup and recovery of individual files
  • Accuracy and consistency of the data

Cons

  • Storage management: cleanup of old backups can be time expensive if their Continious Data Backup feature is enabled, since you cannot create a cleanup plan because it will fail. Unless you disable that option every time you like to delete some backups
  • Security incidents as they call them (for example you click on a bad URL or link) are most of the time automatically mitigated making any further investigation pointless. It is good that their AI does many things for you but then there is no point on notifying you of something already resolved.
  • Backup storage is expensive and you can only use Microsoft Azure as a third party cloud storage provider

Likelihood to Recommend

Initial setup of plans (backup and anti-virus plans are called Protection plans, backup cleanup plans, etc.) is straightforward compare to other providers like Veeam. Also they offer Patch Management (Windows Updates) and integrated malware protection so it is convenient and the setup and day-to-day operation of those features are user-friendly. Recovery of individual files is also easy.
