Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup to backup our Microsoft 365 environment. We use all available options of the product: Exchange, Teams, OneDrive and Sharepoint. We have all our employees and students covered in the backup. The product helps us to restore data lost either by mistake or by possibly to neferious activity.

Pros

  • It can cost effectively backup the entire M365 environment and retain backups indefinitely
  • Restores can be very grannual, for example to restore single email message
  • Implemention of the product is quite easy and fast

Cons

  • Restores are search based. Sometimes this is challenging as users don't for example remember what the filename of lost file is or when it was lost.
  • More to do with limitations of M365, but the suite of applications that are available to backup is limited.

Likelihood to Recommend

For its price the product is very cost effective. For our university it's important to be able to backup students as well as employees and other products tend to have at least limited cost to students. As there are so many students in our university the cost involved with other products would make them too costly. As the amount of data that is involved with M365 is so vast, it's also nice not to have extra cost involved for space used. The product is cloud based, so for some organizations that might be a problem.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize the Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup to provide a more complete backup environment for our Office 365 environment. It is one of the few solutions that backs up all aspects of our tenant; Exchange, One Drive, Sharepoint, Teams, and our Entra ID. We monitor the successful backups and then utilize the recovery feature when our users need to recover a file, folder, or email.

Pros

  • Creates a cloud backup of all aspects of Office 365
  • Retains the backups for as long as we need them
  • Allows us to easily locate files, folders, email accounts, or email messages to restore them

Cons

  • We have never needed to restore our complete environment but a feature to prioritize recovery would be nice

Likelihood to Recommend

I have yet to identify a short coming with this solution. I have found it easy to configure, manage, and restore items when needed. Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup is also very proactive at managing our account and assisted us in validating the configuration for any new functions that need to be implemented.

On our journey to bolster our cyber security & disaster recovery plans, we decided to purchase & implement Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup.

It was always in the back of our minds that should the worst happen, our Office 365 data isn't being backed up & would be lost.

This is where Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup comes in. With it's extremely simple set up, you connect it to your Microsoft 365 tenancy & it does the heavy lifting for you.

It instantly begins to create a backup schedule & then backs up your exchange mailboxes, your OneDrive accounts, your SharePoint Sites & your Microsoft Teams.

You can check restore from backup, export out of a backup, create scheduled reports which can to to specified users, it does everything you need to have peace of mind that your data is being securely backed up.

Pros

  • Easy to navigate user interface
  • Straight forward restore jobs/export jobs
  • Easy to check status of current backups
  • Scheduled reporting

Cons

  • When performing a restore, the search filter & the mailbox filter button can be confused, depending on what you want to achieve.

With Cyber Attacks constantly on the rise, with Educational Establishments being a high-risk target, Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup is perfectly suited for providing peace of mind that a school/college/academy/universities Microsoft 365 data is being securely backed up & is easily recoverable.

High recommended to all IT colleagues in Educational Establishments.

In my experience, disappointing. Fails to live up to promises

[Our] whole organization uses Barracuda Cloud-To-Cloud Backup, to backup Office365 Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.

So far I find it very patchy, sometimes the backups do not work and there is no way to see why. We get nightly Exchange backups but only 1 SharePoint backup per week.

Restore is very difficult [in my experience] as the search function does not work, [I] have to browse through 2000 mailboxes to find the one [I] want to restore.

[The] price is cheap, but [in my opinion] functionality is not great.

  • Searching for a user to restore does not work
  • More than 1 Sharepoint backup per week would be nice

[We are] using Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup to back up all things O365 (email, Teams, SharePoint). This is the de facto tool that is used by every employee and data retention and back up is paramount. Not just for existing staff, but for archival for those moments when so and so had an email that the[y] approved this 6 months ago. Into the archive we go and dig it out.

Pros

  • Easy to setup
  • Easy to use
  • Just works

Cons

  • The final output when downloading is a bit bulky and hard to find things based on subject headers.
  • Wish there was a range to export out.
  • The UI is not as snappy as I would have expected.

Likelihood to Recommend

You know Microsoft does not back up your data. You'd better get that going before you run into a legal issue.

Cloud backup made easy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We moved gradually towards Office365 and started using products like Teams and OneDrive. But the more information you place here, the bigger the need for a backup and simple restore possibility. Enter Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup. It was included in our Total Security offering. I just activated it and the backup was running. Need a restore: easy. I'm migrating with more confidence towards Office365.

Pros

  • Easy to setup
  • Fast since it is cloud to cloud
  • Restore is simple

Cons

  • Maybe a end user interface for restoring
  • Teams backup is maybe confusing since you backup a group instead of a team.

Likelihood to Recommend

As the name spells out: [well suited for] cloud-to-cloud. You should backup Office365 [and] Barracuda just offers the right tools to do so. And since you don't have to rely on local storage, it is fast and unlimited.
