The good and the could be BetterCloud
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
BetterCloud allows us to automate tasks that would otherwise take three fulltime employees to execute each month. The SaaSOPS management platform allows to save on Google Licensing costs as we delegate administrative access thru the platform rather than using additional privileged accounts. BetterCloud also allows us to integrate different Saas Platforms to facilitate actions within each of the Apps, simplifying and correlating actions related to user access.
Pros
- Actions on individual accounts, managing access thru automation using well defined and customizable triggers
- Provisioning actions across different SaaS Platforms unifying and simplifying access
- Data Loss Prevention through Data Protection scanning and actionable information that can be automated
Cons
- More data exposure/insights available via the interface
- Scheduled reporting functionality within the Enterprise SKUs
- Improved service integration capabilities in services that have been in play for some time (Google)
Likelihood to Recommend
BetterCloud is well suited for small to medium sized companies where a small technology support team can exponentially improve their capacity thru the available automation. When a company's data set starts to grow larger than 50-60 million objects and ~30k+ users there is still a good return on the investment but the population that BetterCloud has catered to for so long does not seem to be plentiful and shared experiences and community are just not there. Where a company that size might have a handful of technically capable team members that push for functionality that doesn't seem niche, there isn't much of a crowd to bounce those large scale ideas off of.
