Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use BrowserStack for testing on multiple devices. Instead of having to get physical devices, we do our testing on BrowserStack. As a remote based company it is not feasible to have physical devices for all testers and instead the organization went ahead with BrowserStack as it provides multiple devices to test on. It has a wide range of mobile devices in both Android and iOS. Also has a lot of previous versions to test on. For the Windows and MacOS devices, it is also possible to be tested. One of the best features that I widely use is the simultaneous parallel testing feature, which helps me a lot in testing on multiple devices at the same time and saves a lot of time.

Pros

The devices available for testing render the websites as perfectly as a real device would
The ability to switch to different OS versions and different website versions increases the testing scope
The simultaneous/ parallel execution of tests on multiple devices makes things faster and testing can be done faster
The ability to change how the network speed affects the performance and to get to know how everything behaves on the device

Cons

The parallel execution is limited and is still in beta state. Once it starts to work properly, it will be more helpful
The paid subscription can be a bit of an issue for some individuals or organizations as the charges are a bit too much
Some of the devices do not open or load properly and are not available to test at times

Likelihood to Recommend

As per my experience, BrowserStack is more suited for those organizations that have a remote work culture and also for those who need multiple device testing. Also, it is beneficial for those organizations that do not want to spend more on physical devices, as the devices update frequently in the market. It is not appropriate for those organizations which have lesser need of multi- device testing as the subscription model may not be feasible for them. Also a small organization with less number of employees would not opt for BrowserStack as it would be costlier for them.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am a staff SDET engineer, and we had an issue with not having a centralised place for storing all the test cases. So we contacted the team, obtained licensed versions, and eventually fixed the problem of sharing test cases among all team members. Another issue was that we want tiered licenses for read-only and full usage, so we can cover the entire team in looking into the TCs. It is one of the best tools I have used so far for test case management, with many advanced use cases to support. Had 1-2 basic feature misses as well, but that should not stop anyone from getting this tool.

Pros

Good Test case management.
Well structured access level for full user and read only user.
Good Integration with JIRA and support of many other integrations.
Good AI support as well.

Cons

Duplicating the TC. Its very tedious step for now if we want to do.

We primarily use BrowserStack to automate our workflow processes through the no-code automation feature that it provides. The prompts that we give to generate codes are very much simplified. Also, we use the website test management feature of BrowserStack to test the effectiveness of our website. Our Web Accessibility compliance is also greatly improved with the help of BrowserStack.

Pros

The prompts for the no-code automation is very much simple
It is very much efficient and easier to streamline testing and automation
The simple drag and drop mechanism while creating test platforms is very much useful for us

Cons

Integration with Slack is there, but integration with Microsoft teams is not that great
The dashboards sometimes feel rudimentary which can be improved
More help materials can be introduced to help first time users

Likelihood to Recommend

One of the best use cases for us with BrowserStack has to be the website and browser automation and testing. It is very simple to test our login pages. Also, with the AI-based no-code automation capabilities, the number of errors is greatly reduced, which saves a lot of time and effort for us.

I am an independent freelance developer. I use BrowserStack almost daily to test my clients websites and apps across devices, browsers and on different operating systems. My clients expect their websites or apps to work perfectly for their users. I make this possible for them with the help of BrowserStack. With BrowserStack I find issues early- like CSS breaking on Safari or a button not working on an older android device etc.

Pros

Many times a website looks fine on Google Chrome but breaks on Safari or Opera browser. BrowserStack makes it easy to open those exact browsers and fix CSS, spacing issues or font issues quickly.
I use BrowserStack to make sure menus, pages, popups and forms behave properly on small screen devices like Mobile Phone or tablets.
I can run test suites across many browsers and devices at the same time. It saves my time.

Cons

During busy hours, real devices feel a bit laggy to connect or respond. It works but it can break the flow when I am in the middle of debugging.
For a new user, User Interface(UI) can feel overwhelming at first because there are lot of options and products in the dashboard.

Likelihood to Recommend

BrowserStack is well suited for cross-browser and cross-device testing. I use it when I want to make sure a website works on Google Chrome, Safari, Opera Browser, Firefox, iOS and Android before handling it to my client.

In my organization BrowserStack is mostly use for testing purpose, within my team it is used for both android as well as iOS app testing. We do manual app testing on emulators and real devices provided by Browserstack. It has a very wide range of Android devices with different screen sizes and OS versions to cover all testing scenarios.

Pros

It has very wide range of mobile devices available for testing, real devices from all major manufacturer like Samsung, pixel, vivo etc are available on BrowseStack.
We can simulate real world scenario of different network conditions like 2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G internet connecting, making testing more reliable and realistic
Uploading apk files or aab files on BrowserStack is very easy, the user interface is easy to understand

Cons

There is some latency while using the Android and iOS devices, the interaction with the mobile devices has a delay of few milliseconds which feels while doing rigorous testing
BrowserStack lack advanced debugging features, though we have the logs and can see the network calls, but advance features like layout inspector or adding breakpoints on debuggable app builds are missing
Pricing is little high for big team size and more number of parallel sessions.

Likelihood to Recommend

BrowserStack is very well suited when we need to test our app for different devices of different screen sizes and OS versions. As it provides a wide range of real world devices, testing becomes cost effective. But it is not suited for scenarios where you have to test for very long hours, as it is on browser only you may lose connection to the device. It also lacks advance debugging features.

We required to test the product for that part we are requiring for different desktops size for responsiveness as well as cross browser compatibility testing for the website before going to live as well as working on the app testing we required the ios of different version with android with different size for that part we are using it for complete testing and helps to cost saving of the purchasing the different types of phone or tablet we can test directly by making the session in it

Pros

Real Devices and Real browser testing-sometime issue comes on the safari browser only not on the simulators showing the errors
Massive Browser and OS Version Coverage for all the versions of browser and operating systems
Tests localhost, internal staging URLs and does not required the live url for testing the products

Cons

Costlier when we are taking it for team members for costing they should think about it and try to make it reduced
Sometime Session Startup Time Can Feel Slow when first time loading the devices as well
Automation Debugging UX Is Weak when automation fails debugging is quite difficult for it

For testing part it is best product before going live you can test it in best way like cross browser compatible as well as responsiveness for all the sizes of screens and moreover you can check with multiple version you can know much better in it and it is costlier for startups to use them for teams but they can utilise via single tester to test complete website and provide the reports to developer so they can debug it

We have been using BrowserStack for almost a year now, and it has been great so far. We primarily use BrowserStack to automatically test and check our website login. The entire automation process contains very little to no coding, which is very helpful for me. Complex workflows can be created with ease for webpage automation, which helps us test out our landing pages in a much more effective manner.

Pros

The low code automation worfklow generator saves lot of time for us
Even UI changes can be tested automatically with minimal changes to the workflow
Drag and drop functionalities while creating testing platforms is very good and makes our work more efficient

Cons

The AI Driven self healing functionality sometimes feels lagging and can be made more smoother
Integration with more third party applications needs to be introduced
I feel the number of help documents that are available are very less as it takes more time to get accustomed to the platform

Likelihood to Recommend

We create automation modules with BrowserStack and primarily use it to test our landing pages. One of the best things about this is that we can easily execute the tests in the BrowserStack cloud without any initial setup. This saves a lot of time, effort, and resources for us. Also, cross-browser testing on mobile devices and computer devices is possible, which is very good.

We use BrowserStack primarily to test the UI/UX for the websites and also to check the responsiveness on various devices. Mobile applications are also extensively tested on different platforms, browsers and devices for the design compatibility. The advantage with BrowserStack is the easy to use dashboard and the option to parallelly test multiple mobile devices including the latest devices launched.

I am using BrowserStack for cross browser testing, Mobile testing, Visual testing and Accessibility testing. Exploring LowCode recently. The major business problem that gets addressed is Real time testing in real devices rather than simulators or emulators. Also when it comes to compliance, BrowserStack's Accessibility helps way better than other tools in the market in making WCAG 2.XX compliances and testing ease and effortless and automating it too.

I see they have Low code and AI driven automation. But still there is more room for improvement in this area to make it easier for automation testers.
