I have had to quickly order items, and our support team is quick to respond and get the information we need. They are quick to make sure we have exactly what we need. The items are always arriving at a sufficient time as well.

CDW is a good place to go for a large selection of competitively-priced goods to purchase directly from their web store, but customer service is still lacking, even after all these years; look at various review sites online. Management appears to still be out of touch, or possibly as high as the executive level?

If CDW doesn't value our business (and we're an SMB, so not a big juicy account that they're sure to court but we do conduct tens of thousands of $ per year range), there are several alternatives. I need to be convinced otherwise as most account reps themselves are great, but that's the end of the line on customer service for u.

It depends a lot on what you really need, but if you are looking for some kind of consultancy or to have nice planning before starting doing changes in your environment, it definitely worth trying their solution and at least talking to them to understand better if it is helpful or not to you.

  • Response time in emailed requests for quotes could be more prompt.
  • Communication could be improved by responding to email requests just to let your customers know that you received it and are working on it.
CDW has always been competitive in their quotes for product procurement. I think that the one area they could improve the most on is the "value-added" part of being a reseller. The one thing that their competitors excel at over CDW is when it comes to responsiveness and communication. Sometimes they are on-point, while other times you have to resend your request or forward it just to get an initial response.

I have worked with CDW for over 15 years and have been very happy with the production selection and inventory but wished the representatives were more quick with quotes. They seem to have a very high turn around with staff during the past 6-7 years.

  • Small organizations are treated as second-class citizens.
  • Seems to have an agenda based on what their vendors are offering them for incentives.
CDW is well suited for large purchases, especially over $50k. Due to their size, they have leverage with the vendors and very often can beat prices. By far they offer the widest range of products of anyone, which is especially helpful if you are looking to work with a single vendor but want to consider, say, all the network switch manufacturers.

CDW is especially weak for smaller customers. Account managers that have smaller customers have a larger number of customers assigned, so the small customers do not get the attention given to larger customers.

  • Not sure. Our company has worked with them for many years.
Our company has always received excellent service with our orders. With great prices and support. We have always recommend them to our end users. Because it's a company that can be trusted. Does not matter if you are big or just starting up.

If a customer does not require constant onsite presence then CDW would be great. Some companies need more attention than others and if more is needed then I wouldn't select CDW as my first choice.

  • Scheduling CDW resources can be somewhat tricky
  • Project Management, some projects can exceed the initial hours as listed in SOW
  • Cost, their prices are not always the lowest, and than dealing with a vendor directly
CDW is a good solutions provider that has many offerings a client can choose from. CDW is well suited for solutions that require research and design, and providing the on-site implementation for the client. Hardware and software are also offered from CDW, but costlier, than if dealing with the hardware/software vendor directly.
