PRWeb is a versatile platform that has been widely used by businesses and organizations to effectively distribute press releases and generate wider reach and visibility. Users have found it particularly beneficial for issuing press releases about company news, new product offerings, and equipment or capabilities acquisitions throughout the year. With PRWeb, users can effortlessly send out press releases on a mass scale to media outlets across the country, targeting specific geographic regions or industry-relevant products or capabilities.

One of the key advantages of PRWeb is its convenience and cost-effectiveness. It provides a streamlined solution for posting news announcements without the need for additional features like graphics or specialty news wires. This makes it an ideal choice for organizations without a dedicated PR team looking to efficiently distribute press releases and reach a wider audience. Users appreciate the ease of use that PRWeb offers, allowing them to upload visuals to make their press releases more compelling.

Moreover, PRWeb has proven valuable for augmenting marketing efforts and increasing the chances of news releases being picked up by news organizations. By utilizing PRWeb, companies like Strouse have successfully amplified their content and expanded their network of qualified contacts through prospecting and pitching media contacts using tools like Cision. This software not only helps track media hits but also enables users to find specific contacts for journalists and producers while easily disseminating news releases for clients.

Furthermore, PRWeb has been instrumental in promoting higher education institutions. Small colleges have utilized this platform to connect with media outlets across the country, delivering national newsworthy stories to a broader range of publications. This wider reach ensures that these institutions gain visibility on search engines and achieve greater exposure for their important news.

In summary, PRWeb serves as an indispensable tool for organizations seeking to distribute press releases efficiently, announce relevant news, increase their visibility on search engines, and enhance their media outreach efforts. Its user-friendly interface, cost-effective nature, and ability to target specific regions or industry-specific topics have made it a go-to choice for businesses, institutions, and individuals alike.

We used Cision PRWeb to distribute national press releases and connect with media across the country. We are a small college in a mid-size market and the network of media contacts that Cision PRWeb provides allows us to cast a wide net and deliver our national newsworthy stories to publications that we would not normally have access to. The cost per release is reasonable and the network is unmatched.
  • Media Contact Database.
  • Secure Press Release Delivery.
  • Sorting and identifying industry specific publications.
  • Mid sized market media database needs more frequent updating.
  • Would like to send embargoed press releases without the fear of early publishing.
  • More economical press release packages available.
We have run several national PR campaigns over the past couple of years and Cision PRWeb makes it easy to distribute the releases and publications pick them up with is a testament to Cision's industry trust credibility. With just a few clicks, the release is set up and ready to deliver at a time of our choice.

We use Cision PRWeb to send out news releases for clients. We've found that the software is very easy to use and once someone is trained they can do it easily by themselves. Overall, we like that this platform allows you to upload photos and other visuals to help make the press release more compelling.
  • Press release distribution.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Easy to use.
  • Inputting links.
  • Speed for release to go live.
  • Allow videos.
Cision PRWeb is great for companies that are looking to get out news and control the messaging. It also helps boost SEO. We don't see reporters using Cision PRWeb as a press release or news story source very often, so as long as the client knows that, it works well.

To track media hits for our clients, as well as finding specific contacts for journalists and producers.
  • In terms of finding specific contacts, it does a good job.
  • It finds mainstream media hits well.
  • One issue we ran into with media tracking was that when it came to smaller or more niche media, it had a hard time tracking hits from those outlets for our clients.
  • Building larger media lists was time consuming and cumbersome.
For finding media contacts it was really good. For building larger lists, it wasn't as effective (within their platform). For exporting large lists (for example, looking for specific media contacts in Dallas), that was useful and effective. I would always export those larger lists into Google Sheets and then edit from there -- this was much faster than editing lists within the platform.

For tracking media hits, it honestly wasn't much more effective for us than using Google Alerts.

I don't use PRWeb for my business, but instead as needed for my clients. It is good for when a client wants to post press releases on the wire for various news announcements. It is a nice meeting of convenience and a smart price point for no-frills news announcements - when you don't need to add pics, graphics, or need to reach specialty news wires.
  • It provides a Newswire option at a very reasonable price.
  • The pricing is in a sweet spot for many startups who would want to use it.
  • It hits up all of the key media outlets that you would expect a wire service to be connected to.
  • Would be nice if they didn't charge extra for a release that has is submitted the day before it is scheduled to be posted.
  • The option to upload a word document instead of copy and pasting all release content into a form would be nice addition.
  • Uploading social media links a representative of a client is not so easy.
I think it is best suited for smaller companies or startups who want to post a news announcement to the wire without breaking the bank. It is also good for SEO purposes. As mentioned, if you want a no-frills press release/wire solution, PR Web checks off a lot of boxes.

Cision is used by the Digital PR arm of our organization. Cision is used to prospect and pitch media contacts in an effort to get our content and our client's content shared. Cision is critical to our media amplification efforts and has allowed our organization to scale the number of qualified contacts we pitch for each campaign we create and promote.
  • Media prospecting
  • Media reach
  • Monitoring
  • Template creation
  • Media Follow ups
  • Customer service
The Cision PRWeb media database is an industry leader. I can't imagine being able to find as many qualified contacts with any other service. Their database is well maintained and easy to use. Sending emails through the Cision platform is not my favorite aspect of Cision PRWeb. Many competing services are more user-friendly. I've sent feedback on improvements I've like to see made and the responses from the customer service team are not prompt.

We use PRWeb to announce exciting news pertinent to our community.
  • I am not pleased with the service.
  • We pay a great deal of money for the service and twice they have delayed releases to question our organization's information accuracy. Most recently, they questioned a grant receipt amount; they previously posted with no issue 2 years prior. I met their demand and had the information verified. Hours later they did not send the release delaying our reach impact. No reason why.
The service is suited for companies that have the cash to waste and a large staff to meet their requests and demands before they will send releases a business pays for.

PRWeb is used by our Marketing Department to push out press releases and important news. We use it to reach outside of our organization, and we do not have a PR team here. We don't have time to call local stations and try to pursue media, so this is the best way for us to get our information out. It is quick and efficient, but not as meaningful as being featured on local news.
  • Broadens our reach.
  • Relatively quick and streamlined.
  • We can get decent data back.
  • Relatively expensive.
  • There's a good chance our story will be hard to find.
  • Not very meaningful at times.
It depends. If you don't have a PR team or the resources to reach out to local media, this is a solid way to achieve those goals. If you can house a PR team and have them make meaningful connections locally, that is way better than using this outlet.

I help clients with press releases and I sometimes advise them to use PRWeb to issue the releases. Issuing a press release using a service like PRWeb helps it get wider reach, and it will also show up on search engines. Using a wire service is one more way to leverage a press release.
  • Cost: It's much less expensive than some of the other services. When you work with smaller businesses, they can't always afford $1000 to issue a press release on a wire service.
  • It's easy to use. The interface is fairly simple to figure out and guides you through what you need to include - headline, photo, pull quote, etc.
  • It helps get your news out on the search engines, which can help more people see it. For example, one client I was working with sent a release via PRWeb and it helped them get into talks with a potential reseller.
  • PRWeb is very particular about certain types of releases. For example, when a company makes an acquisition, PRWeb requires authorization from both companies before they'll issue the release. This can cause a slow down in the timing of getting the news out - and it creates a hassle when they both have to fill out paperwork. This could be streamlined.
  • It doesn't automatically save your work. For example, if you are staging a press release, you have to remember to save it - or it disappears. This has happened to me multiple times.
  • You have to pay an additional fee to get the news out the same day. Otherwise, you can choose for it to go out the next day. It requires you to plan and think ahead - and many companies don't do this.
For smaller companies on a budget that have major news to announce, it can be worth the $249 fee to issue a press release - and it comes with a photo. On other services, if you issued a press release with a photo, it would be much more costly - more like $1000.

If you're a major brand with a big budget, it may not make sense to use PRWeb. While PRWeb does help get the news on search engines, it may not do as good a job as the pricier services.

We use PRWeb for our organization to distribute press releases.
  • Easy to use online forms
  • Editorial review is responsive and catches typos.
  • Formatting on press releases is very limited. Doesn't allow bold, italics or bullets.
PRWeb is well suited for small companies with limited marketing budgets.

I use PRWeb to publicly distribute our news releases. It's mainly used by the marketing department but is used for all major company news and announcements. PRWeb helps us get the word out about any news we have and up the chances of it getting picked up by a news organization.
  • PRWeb is good for publicly distributing your news announcement.
  • PRWeb can also help you write or edit your press release if you need help or aren't able to do it on your own.
  • You can target certain geographical areas or business sectors for your news to be distributed to.
  • I wish you didn't have to pay for every extra thing. Sometimes it comes off like the people with the most money will be the ones that get their news seen.
  • It would be nice to geo-target globally. Right now, PRWeb only lets you select certain major MSAs in the US.
If you need to get your news out to the public then PRWeb is a great option. They have a few different packages to choose from for individual news releases but if you plan to distribute a lot of releases in any given year they can offer customized packages with discount pricing. If you're a very global business I would perhaps see if there are news distributors that are more focused on reaching audiences in other countries.

We use PRWeb to send press releases about company news, new product offerings from our suppliers, and of new equipment and capabilities that we purchase throughout the year. I am the only person in my company who is responsible for marketing duties therefore I am the sole user of PRWeb at Strouse. PRWeb allows us to create press releases and issue them on a mass scale to media outlets all over the country. Often times products or capabilities that are new to our industry are only targeted to certain geographic regions and we have the ability to focus on these regions with PRWeb.
  • PRWeb is fairly easy to use to issue press releases. They have a review process that will look over your release before submission although this review is not going to catch spelling and grammatical errors.
  • I've seen our press releases posted on industry relevant websites thanks to the reach that PRWeb provided us.
  • Although I never used it because we subscribed to a different service, PRWeb allows you to create and send email blasts within their OutMarket marketing platform.
  • I enjoy the ability to add a quote call out in the release.
  • I also like that images or videos can be added to the release.
  • While I was surprised with how well PRWeb could publish our content to many different outlets, I was disappointed that some of these outlets were not including links back to our website even through links were provided in the initial release. I found that on the most important sites where my PR was posted, that no links were sent back to our website.
  • PRWeb could do a better job at providing analytics for the release. They present some good info, not a lot, and the data that they do show you is not presented cleanly. I was most interested in the # of reads, impressions, and clicks my release received, and while they provided this information it was not in depth enough so that I could identify where the majority of this data was coming from.
  • Besides clicks, reads, and impressions, I was also interested in where my press release was being posted online. They provide an extensive list, but this list is so long and full of low quality websites that it is difficult to find the high quality sites that your PR is posted to.
  • More enhanced reporting dashboards.
PRWeb served it's purpose for Strouse by sending news out to new audiences although this never generated an overwhelming amount of traffic to our website. If you are only interested in issuing PR and getting your name out there, then I think PRWeb is a fine solution.
I find PRWeb less appropriate if you really want to drive traffic to your site through a press release in hopes of creating sales.
During the selection process I would be interested in knowing what sources my PR would be submitted to. Is it being submitted to relevant websites? Will links be provided on all of these websites? Ask yourself, will these websites benefit my companies SEO?
