Overall Satisfaction with Cision PRWeb

We use Cision PRWeb primarily as a media monitoring platform that lets us know when our organization or employees are mentioned online, on TV, on a podcast, or on the radio. We also use Cision PRWeb for sending out press releases and creating media lists for those based on a variety of criteria.

Pros

  • Covers a wide range of publications
  • Emails receive high open rates
  • Keeps relevant data on media members

Cons

  • Difficult to manually import and assign press list contacts
  • TVEyes partnership only provides low-quality video clips
  • General customer support team is incompetent and slow to respond
  • Allows us to better quantify media mentions by tapping into TV, radio, and podcasts
  • Reduces turnaround time on press release publication
  • Helps cast a wider net when searching for potential media partners
The Cision PRWeb platform is mostly intuitive. It is broken into Monitoring, Social, Insights, and Outreach sections. The way Mention Streams are set up and organized has confused employees who are new to the dashboard. Under Outreach, the Launchpad and Activities tabs are a little bit redundant and could probably be consolidated.
We previously used Meltwater, but found that Cision PRWeb was able to provide all of the same services, plus reporting on additional media formats, for a lower price. It makes a lot more sense to use Cision PRWeb for communicating with media via press releases. The user interface is also less clunky.

Cision PRWeb is a wonderful tool for our team of communications professionals. We typically include media mentions over a given time period in our internal reporting, and appreciate the quick notifications whenever we are mentioned somewhere. It is also much quicker than manually curating media lists when you are in a hurry to send a press release. The platform allows you to integrate your social media channels, but I would not use it to pull definitive cross-channel reports on social media performance.
