Google App Engine continues to change the API (while typically retaining backwards compatibility) so you have to keep up to date, slightly decreasing the usability of the service. Once you know how to do something, the usability is generally great, and there are a lot of resources. However, the fact it is changing so much means that the service is not as straightforward as it would be with an older and more time-tested system. There are times when I've found a guide for doing something in Google App Engine only to find out that it is not the preferred way of doing it any more.

Smaller companies tend to feel that the product is pricy and it costs more to get people to learn a new app engine whereas people are widely familiar with older app engines.

Google App Engine (GAE) is a very use-able product and makes a great "first platform" for new users to cloud platforms. It is easy to configure and get running quickly, making it competitive, especially for existing G Suite users. Different language options also make it easy to get deployments across multi-lingual organizations as well!

Google App Engine is very intuitive. It has the common programming language most would use. Google is a dependable name and I have not had issues with their servers being down....ever. You can safely use their service and store your data on their servers without worrying about downtime or loss of data.

The Google App Engine overall is a positive application that can be successfully utilized within a business or within a department. However, unless the entire business unit is utilizing the Google App Engine you tend to generate major inefficiencies between team members and ultimately slow down the development process.

It's very user-friendly, as you would expect from a Google product. The user interface is well made, but it does take some getting used to. Thankfully, Google has provided lots of resources to master the engine.

As soon as you navigate around in the Apps interface, you will see that it is easy to use. So easy, that new sysadmins can get fooled into thinking it is not powerful. Be careful what you click. A small checkbox can shut down your entire organization's email!

The overall plus is the ease of use – you need way less system administration knowledge, and even if you have it, you need to do much less in order to have a real-world-ready application.
