We are using Google Chat for day-to-day collaboration within the team. It fulfills our needs for fast communication. Within a Google Suite, Google Chat is not bad. However, if you ever used Slack - Google Chat would be not nice for you at first glance I believe. Mainly because of the missing functionality compared to Slack: e.g., missing automation and bots in my experience, markdown is not fully supported in my experience, creation of the spaces, low/missing integration with other apps (e.g., GitLab) in my experience. However for simple communication - it's not bad. To sum up, Google Chat is ok, if you need to communicate, however loses to Slack in diversity of automation, integration and IMHO usability in my opinion.
  • Communication between users
  • GIFs & emojis
  • Creating tasks from messages and putting those in Calendar
  • More versatile markdown (e.g., adding 2 levels of points, code snippets etc.)
  • Provide automations and writing bots (same as on Slack)
  • Improve threads (they are not prominent and easy to lose sight of)
If the company is IT comoany and has Google Suite license and wants to spare money on communication tool -> then Google Chat is a really good choice. For non-IT companies, Google Suite can be also suitable option. In all other cases - if the company has at least 3+ IT teams/departments, then it's better to use Slack in my opinion.

I use Google Chat for communicating with my team mates and scheduling meetings with them. Its good for simple file sharing and connecting with the team by making chat space and group. It provide simple and easy user interface to do simple chat. The best part is that its come with Google Gmail and we can also install its software for use it.
  • Communicate
  • File Sharing
  • Schedule Meeting
  • Create Chat Spaces or Group for team
  • In this we can not share large file
Google Chat is good for me to do easily communicate with the team mate to discuss about the project by creating group space for the project and get the information about the progress of the project. Its good for immediately schedule meeting to discuss for the doubts and requirements which are needed for the project.

Google Chat is one of the best tools we use in the organization as it is very simple to use. You just need an internet connection, no downloads are required and it does not have restrictions on the operating system you are using. The only issue with Google Chat is that the chat can jump from time time to time therefore it would be good if they can fix it.
  • You do not need an account with Google Chat you only need an account with Google.
  • Technical support is excellent.
  • There are many videos that explains how to use it.
  • There is no limitation to the number of people to join the chat.
  • You can have private rooms for chatting.
  • You can visualize your chat with a video link.
  • Issues sometimes when loading chats. Needs to be fixed.
  • If Google is down then everything is down.
Google Chat is well supported by the company. It is very simple to use. Used it without any downloads. You can use it for free as well at times. Google Chat is good for medium to small sized companies where you just need an internet connection to connect with your team. It is very simple also to use it from your mobile phone.

It provides our organization with the ability to quickly and efficiently communicate and collaborate in a remote work environment. We use it to share best practices, to quickly provide peers within our specific workgroups with quick answers to complex questions, and to partner with each other in a consultation manner to provide a better customer experience. All of our departments (from eCommerce to B2B to B&M Sales) use it across departmental lines and sometimes within specific groups.
  • Create internal/operational efficiencies.
  • Enhance decision making.
  • Improve business process agility.
  • Improve customer relations/service.
  • Text boxes have an aggravating way of resizing itself.
  • Inability to dock the conversation list.
  • Conversations can jump around quite often.
  • Searching for specific instances or keywords sometimes is not efficient.
Well suited for businesses of all sizes. HOWEVER, I would say keep the chat groups limited at the departmental level, ensure that your moderator or the individual responsible for the group keeps it on topic, and have your IT team monitor it from time to time. Google Chat gets used so much in our organization that we have rules and regs in our Employee Handbook regarding its proper use (and when used PROPERLY, it can be very effective).

We use Google Chat in our day to day life for communicating personal as well as professional use. It is quite a fast way to interact with someone outside Google mail. It is also good for sharing attachments like pdf, jpg and video etc. It comes in the bundle of Google apps like gmail, drive, meet etc.
  • Easy to use interface
  • Fast connectivity and portability to use from phone, tab etc.
  • Quick way to share files like pdf jpg, videos etc.
  • Low bandwidth is required
  • Popup message can be sometimes distracting while doing work
  • Sometimes when message fails, I am not able to find out whether it is due to app or internet
  • There is a limit to the character that you can send
It is an excellent tool for personal as well as professional chat and economical app as free to use

Google Hangouts Chat is used to communicate with my other colleague. We also use this to get some updates from our Boss. It is used by the whole organization. During the process-related problems, It is way easier to get some assistance through Google Hangouts Chat you can use it while on call and serves as a tool to communicate with other staff including different office locations.
  • Google Hangouts Chat allows you to send and receive messages real time with emoticons that can help you express your mood.
  • You can download and upload image file that can be use for business process and more.
  • Google Hangouts Chat also allows you to make a calls to reach other users. What I like the most is the awesome screen sharing while on call.
  • Google Hangouts Chat has a room for improvement in customizing the themes background. The themes are outdated and hard to change if you don't know the right key to change it.
  • It could be more user friendly if there will be no hidden features. Formatting messages is very likely to use and fun.
  • With conversations going on about everything all the time, it's easy to get pulled into far too many discussions but sometimes its hard to mention names because it shows many result even the users are not included on the chat room.
While you are calling cients and for you to save time utilizing knowledge base tool, It is way easier to directly message other user or announce it in a room I think Google Hangouts Chat is well suited. Sometimes it is less appropriate if the room is created for business process related but bombareded with unrelated topics.or sometimes they are depending on the chat answers and not not getting or learning something on the process.

Google chat has been a great tool for efficient communications with my team members because it features mobile and desktop apps. It is helpful to have channels of conversation between 2 or more people on the same project, as well as video calling through Google meets that's integrated directly into Google Chat - this option adds states such as when you're in meetings or busy. Google chat is a great tool for adding attachment files without having to send them as an email. Google hangouts are the most-used app in our organization. It's where we talk to each other, share files and documents with one another, or have meetings that are led by video calls using this amazing tool!
  • Improve efficiency with faster chat conversations
  • Share files quickly and easily
  • Cut down on company costs with easy-to-use, free software
  • Mobile and Desktop app
  • Google hangouts has room for improvement with its user interface.
  • A better way to create channels of specific topics
  • Bigger avatars for people i talk or work with
Google hangouts chat has a confusing user interface that is not helpful in terms of sharing files and documents. People who work within my organization prefer using another messaging app for internal communication, which allows faster ways to distribute content across different channels or topics when necessary- Google's chat lacks an easy way to share anything with anyone else on your team without switching between tabs/pages all day long! You can't just send someone some quick information like you would through email--you have too many other options available but they're buried beneath layers upon layers where stuff collect save up until its time. Google hangout is a great tool for easy video calls. It's very well suited when I want to have an in-depth discussion with my team, so we still use google hangouts at my company! Creating a chatroom or meeting has never been easier - just share the link and everyone can join from anywhere around the world no matter what browser they're using.

Google hangout is used across the whole organization, it is very easy to install and use. I personally like the hangout, during this pandemic situation hangout has helped a lot in connecting your peers, and sharing things. Groups can be formed very easily which is not available in other applications. I would say if It's one of the best features of Google
  • Easy to use and connect with Peers
  • Sharing the Files
  • Quality of the Product
  • Quality of the Video can be improved
  • Screen sharing can be better
  • Voice quality cab be improved
Google Hangout has helped us during these difficulties a lot, important is to have a connection without any trouble and this application has helped a lot, especially when you have to connect with your peers globally. You are just one click away from your peer to connect with them where ever they are.

Google Hangouts is being used as our primary communication platform for meetings, meetups, talks, webinars, seminars, etc. The user interface feels clean, well-designed, and intuitive. It supports multi-platform integration and wraps well around Google's fleet of productive tools. The audio/video quality is superb. There is also a chat feature that is useful for quick communication. The only problem we face is it supports a limited number of attendees. Also, we are concerned about how our data may be used there. It would be great if Google offered a self-hosting option. Overall, it is a fine tool to work with and it's free.
  • Audio Calls
  • Video Calls
  • Instant Messaging
  • On-premises hosting
  • Limited attendees
  • Concern over user data collection
Google Hangout is well suited for fast-moving small teams. Its instant messaging and calling features are free. Therefore, it is an affordable solution for small startups/companies/daily regular users, etc. However, a large team with a lot of focus will find it difficult to properly utilize. Only a single channel for all the teams makes it hard to manage and use. Also, enterprises will have some issues sharing their data over Hangouts.

We use chats equivalent to text messages. I would like to implement more use akin to Slack organization and appreciate the robust functions of Chat for that. I am also interested in using bots to automate certain functions. I appreciate that Chat is available in Gmail as well as the standalone app.
  • Instant messaging
  • Reminding of missed messages
  • Rooms
  • I would like to see end to end encryption
  • Ease the learning curve
  • Make rooms more easily available from Gmail
Not perfect, but very good and widely available. I am not sure whether I would like to use it outside my organization but think that is worth exploring.

Google Hangouts Chat is our means of communication with our team. We have a group chat and we also have a personal message inbox. We are using our business email address. We also use the video call of Google Hangouts Chat if we need to. Google Hangouts Chat is very useful and so convenient because we can also use it not only on our computer but also on our mobile phones.
  • You can view separately the files sent in the chats
  • Nature friendly theme
  • All in one use
  • I hope we can customize themes and fonts
  • Calling is sometimes confusing. It sends a google meet link when trying to call
  • Lifer ambiance
I'd give 9. Let's start with the upside of Google Hangouts Chat. It is a very friendly tool, helps a lot in so many ways. Communication whether for business or personal use its fine. I find that it's really good unlike other communication tools [because] some of them are for business use only. I recommend this for whatever way they use this. The downside is less customization. Like the themes and fonts. I'd really love that option.

It has replaced GroupMe as our group-text system, and now has replaced text messaging as one of the primary means of workplace communication. We are all constantly using Hangouts Chat. It being attached to our email has been a huge benefit in maintaining consistent communication.
  • I like that it's both attached to my email, and exists in its own app on my laptop.
  • The quick availability to switch from text communication to a video chat.
  • Makes it so much easier to know when other employees are off, and shouldn't be bothered.
  • I wish it was easier to turn the sound off, I hate being in meetings and my chat is blowing up.
  • Needing to "accept" a chat invite from someone within my org seems counter-intuitive.
  • Some people have trouble getting their notifications before midnight, somehow?
  • Prior to downloading the app, group messages didn't come up for me on my computer.
It's just so nice having a chat system attached to your email. If you maintain one, you're maintaining both.

We use Hangouts' chat as an enterprise instant messaging platform in the same way other businesses might use Discord or Slack. We have been in the Google ecosystem for years now since the days of Google Talk and we've moved along with its instant messaging products and now we're on chat.
  • Free to use
  • Tight Google integration
  • Minimal setup required
  • Instant video call function has been removed.
  • User interface is a bit cluttered.
If your organization is invested in G-suite then the tight integration with G-suite makes it a no-brainer. For organizations invested in other software platforms, however, then the IM product that comes with that platform would probably be a better suit.

At Fingent, we use Hangouts Chat for all the internal communication, standups, meetings and chat. It does the job perfectly well. we recently switched to Google Hangouts Chat from Hangouts. Hangouts was actually buggy and had frequent crashes but the new chat is stable. Most of the time I use Google Hangouts Chat on my iPhone.
  • Audio calls
  • Chat
  • Rooms
  • Video call
  • Meetings
  • When I use the iPhone app, my phone gets overheated
  • Performance optimization
  • Bring some fun AR filters to video calls
Google Hangouts Chat is one of the best chat/call/communications app for business organisations like ours, 95% of our team is working from different parts of the world so efficient communications is always important to us. Google Hangouts Chat has everything to achieve that important communication part of our organisation.

I use Google Hangouts Chat primarily when "visiting" school groups to talk about careers in the performing arts and for audio-visual companies. Because many schools use Chromebooks, sticking with the Google family of products makes it easy for teachers, parents, and school administrators to use the product both inside and outside the school walls.

I also occasionally use it to meet clients.
  • Security for kids in school
  • Easy to load
  • Intuitive usage, which makes is more user friendly than things like GoToMeeting
  • I'm not convinced about the security
  • Often "laggy"
  • Audio isn't consistently good--better with headset mic
Google Hangouts Chat is well suited for those K-12 schools where you need to manage a group of students who are on Chromebooks and need to communicate with their classmates. The way it works is simple enough for the kids to be able to use it, and the teachers like the fact that all students are doing the same thing.

We use Google Hangouts company-wide. It is perfect for our mobile environment and the need for quick responses in urgent situations. Our technologists and marketing team in the field are able to easily reach out to our corporate office for quick questions and save everyone a phone call. It is also very helpful to our dispatch/customer service team to communicate efficiently when some of the team is in-office, while others work from home.
  • It is user-friendly.
  • Helps encourage multi-tasking in a fast-pace environment.
  • Is easily accessible from Gmail or my desktop.
  • Reminder notifications would be very helpful to ensure nothing is missed.
  • Some sort of alert or chime to get another user's attention.
  • Enables/encourages an increase in workplace gossip.
I would highly recommend Google hangouts. It is extremely helpful in increasing communication, especially in an environment like the one we have here. We are a mobile workplace, with a lot of employees that work from home or in the field, and Google Hangouts helps connect everyone. It is the easiest way for people to quickly get answers or to make others aware of breaks, etc. As someone who hates talking on the phone, Google Hangouts is my preferred method of communication.
