Overall Satisfaction with Google Chat

Google Chat provides a comprehensive solution for communicating with co-workers within the organization. The comprehensive solution includes being able to direct message, group message, direct message within a group, and programmatic messaging via an API. The platform also allows for private groups where not everyone in the organization needs visibility to the chat. The business needs to have a complete and stable communication platform that is consistent throughout the organization.

Cons

  • Ability to disable chat on my email page when using the desktop app.
  • The ability to send a video message instead of text message.
  • Simplified tools to manage chat message history and archiving history.
  • The ROI is based on time saved which has been significant.
  • Fast communication between team members.
  • Integrates with other Google tools.
The usability is intuitive, and there is a help button, so if I have any questions, I will find the answer right away.
Slack has a few more features than Google Chat. Slack, for a long time, had thread chats that grouped a thread of thoughts together, making the main chat group space a lot less cluttered. A while back, Google Chat implemented a similar thing in a different but similar way, making the group less crowded. They are catching up.

Google Chat is well-suited for businesses. Where it fits in my organization is to maintain communication between teams. Collaboration between teams to solve issues our customers cannot resolve without using Google Chat. Our Organization depends on it. When someone needs assistance from another team in the organization, we use Google Chat to solve this issue.
