What is IBM Cloud Code Engine?

IBM Cloud Code Engine is a fully managed, serverless platform that unifies the deployment of containers and applications including web apps, microservices, event-driven functions, or batch jobs. This serverless compute service aims to remove the burden of building, deploying, and managing workloads in Kubernetes so users can focus on writing code and not on the infrastructure that is needed to host it.

With IBM Cloud Code Engine users can run any workload serverlessly. That includes long-running containers and batch jobs as well as bursty and short-lived functions. The platform dynamically scales containers according to load, has monitoring, logging and a service mesh “built in.” The vendor states users don't need to choose between long execution times, high resource limits, private networking and scale-to-zero but instead have it all on one fully-managed platform, without needing infrastructure skills.

I'm specialized in Firebase and know AWS enough to get by. I just gave up on Azure. Although it is the second best, no one knows or uses it that much. In my opinion, IBM Cloud Code Engine wants to be cool like AWS and fast like Firebase, but it is so stiff and so bureaucratic that people just go with the flow and deploy to mainstream platforms. I feel that if they can build a platform that mimics Docker they should invest more and make it a 3-click deployment. From my experience, the product videos feel so scripted that people come across like actors, not real programmers. To reach the coolness of Google or Amazon, I feel that IBM should invest a lot in free webinars, get into the tech communities, and appear in events. Additionally, I think they should get in contact with boot camps. IBM could give them a one-week free experience, show the students how to deploy to the platform, talk to them, and maybe offer to sponsor an event at the school. Almost every month Google has an event to show or sell its Cloud products. I've always admired IBM, but in my opinion, if they don't keep up with the times then coders will not choose to use their products.

IBM Cloud Code Engine is good for developers to create a microservice based on typescript and nodejs. The tool can help mange the project very well. It decrease the difficulty for developement and increase deloping speed. However, the code engine UI on IBM cloud does not contain enough features it can support.

IBM Cloud Code Engine initial implementation is not that complicated after going through its basic manipulation training which has an effective learning curve. The flexibility of all its functions is a very big plus and i also admire the easy features configuration which enables easy and effective quality services creation and time saving.

usability is a little less with all of the intimidating features. but once mastered it is very easy to find your way through the IBM Cloud Code Engine. otherwise, it is pretty good and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cloud engine. IBM Cloud Code Engine is one of the easiest ones I worked with.

The product Cloud features setting was not that tricky, and the functions are easy to manipulate and provide quality Cloud services. The data connectivity through IBM Cloud Code Engine is very simple and the transfer speed is very impressive. A/B Testing using IBM Cloud Code Engine is effective performed and data security is on top.

The usability of IBM Cloud Code Engine is very good in that it is easy to use and is well connected with IBM Cloud services. Few flaws regarding missing tools (Domain/Url Management, lack of logs, etc..). Also a feature to manage instances periodically and not just on a per request basis would be appreciated.

Flexibility. Users can scale services to fit their needs, customize applications, and access cloud services from anywhere with an internet connection. Backing up data: we can also use the cloud to protect our files. File storage: we can store all types of information in the cloud, including files and email.

As mentioned in previous points, the ability to scale to zero results in an extremely cheap total cost of ownership. As well as added features like auto-scaling and serverless management are a huge plus, can help in quick deployment as well as showcasing new prototypes and solutions. The only thing that was a little buggy was the security, but an experienced engineer can surely work with that.
