IBM MaaS360 on hosted cluster in ocp

Rating: 3 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

installation in an open shift hosted cluster is not working out of the box.

air gapped installation ist not documented. images are missing or not aware of. It should be used as operator and operator catalgog as source .

it is not behaving as a container application, as it needs much local storage on the kubernetes nodes, it should use pvc.

Cons

  • complete openhsift operator
  • catalog sources for images and airgapped installation

Likelihood to Recommend

as from a platform perspective in providing the open shift platform for IBM MaaS360 it is difficult to explain our mgmt, that IBM MaaS360 is not running in our hosted ocp cluster caused by application issues

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are an IBM distribution Partner and we offer IBM MaaS360 to our MSP Partners.

We also use IBM MaaS360 internally for our own in house devices that we use each and every single day - like cell phones, tables as well as workstations. This helps to keep the devices as well as our digital environment secure.

Pros

  • Secure your devices across different OS
  • Allows you to enroll devices as company owned as well as user owned (BYOD)
  • IBM MaaS360 allows very granular settings via the policies

Cons

  • In some cases a simplified version would make things easier
  • Re-enrollment without factory reset would be appreciated
  • Better communication of product changes

Likelihood to Recommend

In the healthcare sector where devices don't have a specific user, but instead just one or more specific functions. Here IBM MaaS360 is a well suited solution.

Also the kiosk mode is easy to assign and utilize

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using IBM MaaS360 to manage, configure and secure our customers devices. Enrolled devices can be tracked, locked and even wiped. With compliance rules we ensure the devices are meeting all corporate policies. With the expense management, roaming charges can be minimized. The complete reporting provides a great audit trail.

Pros

  • Management of Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows and ChromeOS Devices
  • Quick setup and streamlined enrolling of devices
  • Creating complex policies to configure all devices
  • Seamless app distribution with the possibility of app configurations
  • Taking actions on devices to control functionality
  • Includes AI features to support quick deployment

Cons

  • Provide device management for Linux devices

Likelihood to Recommend

IBM MaaS360 can easily put devices into Kiosk mode and limit functionality for Kiosk based or purpose driven devices. Setting up compliance rules allows for granular control to enforce company policies around data access, such as device location can be used to take action such as send a message, lock a device or even wipe it.

IBM MaaS360

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use this software as an MDM. Placing devices into Kiosk Mode. Remote Trouble Shooting. Location Tracking. Without this product our tablet would be unlocked. This would ultimately leave us vulnerable if a driver were to go to a website or use an app that may put personal information at risk. Restricting the tablets through the MDM gives the company a piece of mind, knowing there is no risk for this.

Pros

  • Locks our company issued tablets into a Kiosk Mode
  • Allows Remote Trouble Shooting
  • Allows Location Tracking

Cons

  • Allowing more flexibility for the Kiosk Mode
  • Remote trouble shooting may not always work
  • Commands do not always complete in a timely manner

Likelihood to Recommend

If looking to provide a company issued device and locking down the device it works great. Many software companies do not account for an MDM and may need to update in order to work properly based off specific settings. The software however works great to put a device in Kiosk mode and also to trouble shoot if a user is having an issue.
