Strong Page Design Capabilities: Users praise LumApps for its strong page design capabilities and the ability to create content templates for specific teams and make them private. We use LumApps as our intranet to communicate and share news on a global scale and for resources to all team members.
LumApps has a ton of great abilities, however is limited in the organization on the back end from an administrator perspective and lacks in its ability to do more customization outside of platform CSS coding. Unfortunately, those who lack HTML/CSS coding experience will find this a bit elementary.
Pros
Customization of colors
User creativity relatively wide
Capability with Google Suite
Cons
Ability to write in PX spacing parameters
for those just starting in basic HTML coding, provide a general library of codes
Create pages that display capabilities and steps how to achieve those same results based on the product

The comparability and integrations across major platforms such as Google, Microsoft, Slack, and others is a tremendous asset and they continue to implement new tools regularly.

LumApps is our current intranet provider. We purchased LumApps a year ago and just finished implementation of the product. We use it as our companies primary source for internal information. LumApps addressed our companies problem with multiple sources of information, information confidence, and communication problems between areas of our company.
The Scope of the product was to design a website that could be easily used to control information and communication flow across our companies multiple business lines and between our field sites and corporate headquarters. It is now our companies One-Start shop for information, our visible user directory, a company community platform, and home base to connect to all our companies web applications.
Pros
Webpage and Information Management- It's straightforward to navigate and to allow a single source of information to easily be placed in multiple areas of the intranet without creating multiple versions of files. Further it has enabled us to use the same piece of information across business lines without creating multiple copies of a document or webpage.
Simple webpage design- The program is very easy to use and edit allowing for multiple page owners across different sectors while still being able to managed by a overall by a small team of users. It sacrifices some robustness of customization for simple use which makes it much easier for multiple users to control the information and manage the product as a whole.
Great User Community and product assistance- The product keeps growing actively and gets better. The company itself is great at communicating with its clients about future roll-outs, initiatives, and updates to their product. They also have a robust knowledge base that is easy to understand and allows for quick answers to questions on how to use the product. Their Customer Service team also works diligently to solve problems with the system and communicates frequently with it's clients if their is a problem to help quickly resolve issues.
Cons
Integration- It has integrations with other products, but they are not always the best. The integrations do not always have the best functionality and are sometimes buggy. It's integrations with Microsoft is good, but it can be improved. It's integration with other products I feel is lacking and could be improved in its presentation.
Lack of customization- To have ease of use, it does lack customization. It has standard tools, which are great, but going beyond standard is difficult at the easiest to impossible at the worst. Overall I do not mind this because what it offers is robust, but it is a cautionary tale to those more interested in customization over a solid product.
Calendar Functionality- It does not have great calendar functionality. Setting group shared calendars is difficult and is an area of communication I wish the product would improve.

Suited for- It's a great one start shop for information. If you want your data all in one place and easy to access, you cannot beat LumApps for this. It's ease of placing pages across multiple sectors, menu navigation, and org chart integration are lovely. It showcases information and files very well with easy web page design that brings it all together. With only a little bit of training many people can use the product and create content.
Less Appropriate- While great at what it does it is still a place to showcase information, not house it. It's not a replacement for Microsoft or Google regarding online file storage. It does not do the storage. It just makes files easy to access if your company houses them already. This same idea applies to Active Directory, it can do a lot of great customization of roles and allow/highlight information for people if they already have great data about people. It is a challenge if the backend data profiles of a person are not already syncing from other systems.
LumApps serves a dual function at Instructure, both as the intranet and an internal revenue enablement knowledge base to support our global sales and customer success teams.
Pros
Customizable widgets
Metadata to customize the user experience for a global workforce
Intuitive design
Cons
I would like to see a widget that can be embedded on a page to have users acknowledge proprietary information before the content on that page becomes visible.

LumApps is THE employee experience platform! With its customizable meta-data, I was able to create over 700 pieces of content to deploy a regionalized user experience for our global sales and customer success teams. No longer were employees inundated with content that did not apply to their region or market. With LumApps’ best in class functionality, the integrations that our organization uses, such as Google and Slack were easily integrated within LumApps to create a seamless user experience for a global audience.
In my company, we use LumApps as our intranet. It allows employees to find key information, newsletters, and articles posted in relation to the company and its employees.
Pros
It offers user-friendly navigation.
User management is simple once setup correctly.
It offers many different options for creating posts and articles.
Cons
Search functionality is lacking for groups.
If you Copy and Paste from other sources, it often leads to undesired results.

Well suited: For communicating and archiving important articles and events regarding your company and employees. Directing employees to your intranet to allow them to find the answer they are looking for will encourage the use of the intranet. Less well suited: Not as well suited for communicating emergency or time-sensitive events regarding your company or employees. Employees may miss or not check the intranet as often as perceived without direction and could miss these events.

Mobile App is a star and comes with the contract....although we purchased a custom build.
Cons
LumApps does require some training...I describe it as a high-powered google site (therefore not as easy); so you will want a demo before diving in.
Analytics are always what customers want, LumApps is making strides in this area; but it is not just the numbers...it is helping your customer tell the story that is the most difficult.

Customer Success Team and Technical Support is top notch. Product Feature Suggestions are heard and implemented. Customer best practice sharing is encourgaed.
As part of our move to Google Workspace, LumApps was chosen as the product to build our Intranet on. This allowed us to create a truly unified Intranet portal that is tightly integrated into the productivity tools we use on a daily basis. Prior to the move to Google Workspace and LumApps, it was difficult to locate information.
Pros
Organization and presentation of information
Integration with Google Workspace
Ease of adding and updating content
Cons
There is still some room for improvement with navigation, but that might be more about how our sites and pages were developed.

We had multiple data sources and a variety of data living in each system, due to this issue, users were unable to easily find information about teams/depts/new projects. With LumApps, were able to give each team a dedicated page so users could find additional information on the team and their initiatives.
Pros
Widgets are easy to use
easy to mange users/permission with the use of labels and groups
ability to create sub pages allows for scalability
Cons
Widgets not are users friendly or easy to use. They work, but you have to know what you are doing
Integration with IDP i.e Okta can be improved. There are some missing features like pulling Profile pictures
We are unable to resize users profile pics
Likelihood to Recommend
LumApps is well suited for a team that's dedicated to working on the platform and maintaining it. If a normal user needs to create pages/content there is a steep learning curve. It should be easier to customize the pages but you have to really know proper HTML to have the page display properly i.e sizing widgets and banners.

Pros

Cons
Very tedious and difficult to customize the page in terms of alignment, borders applying graphics
The domain customization is still missing (the url says sites.lumapps.com/xyz)
The communities can be better specially adding videos with thumbnails.
News and articles can be made visually more appealing in terms of effects. (Scroll, bounce, fade, slide, etc)
Copying and pasting already created page into different section is not possible
Likelihood to Recommend
LumApps is suited if your organization has pre-determined templates and page layouts it's not suited for the people who wants to create a page layout from scratch and use creative layouts as it takes a lot of time to add widgets and align them together as per one's idea.
