To start making user manuals from day 1; so many good built-in functions support you to start produce very early, even if you are used to other CMS:es or are a "beginner" using structured writing / topic based writing.

Paligo meets our needs for managing, developing, and publishing content. I do not find any less appropriate use.
As a software company that creates software for all kinds of businesses, we want our documentation to be easily available to customers. This documentation consists of product-related content; how to use and set up TOPdesk. We use Paligo to manage the content of this documentation and to publish it to a help center.
Pros
Good editor
Great support
Easy to manage the application
No performance issues
Good templates to quickly make your content publishable
Cons
Our HTML5 publication needed some accessibility improvements
More options to grant specific permissions to users
Would like a way to easily create a translation file with only the changed topics
Likelihood to Recommend
I would recommend Paligo as a tool when asked which tool to use for content reuse purposes. However, for many colleagues, I think the effort to get an account with proper permissions and understanding the tool and structure would be a little too much. But if their use case fits well, I would definitely show Paligo.
Creating technical documentation for our customers has dramatically improved since we started working in Paligo. Using topics, and the possibility of reusing content, is a great advantage compared to before.
Pros
Reuse
Structure content
Intuitive interface
Great online support
Cons
Difficult to identify which text to reuse if the text is used in many places
Filter columns in a table

We have recently started to work with Paligo but we can see that it will save a lot of time for us when creating technical documentation.
We use Paligo for our technical documentation (not the rest of our website). This includes:
<ul><li>HTML output for our public website (help center)</li><li>PDF output for selected customers or internal use.</li><li>In the future, we plan to allow users to log in to the doc portal so they see only the documentation that is relevant to them.</li></ul>
Pros
Content re-use
Full flexibility in HTML (and other) output
Cons
In my opinion, the user dashboard has minor issues
In my opinion, reviewing is clumsy - reviewers need changes highlighted and view everything in preview mode only
Better documentation - In my opinion, we have to rely too much on our customer service rep
Likelihood to Recommend
It suits our needs very well - I have not considered other possible uses.
Our documentation department made a switch to Paligo from AuthorIt, hoping to: improve the quality of our outputs (html, pdf) streamline authoring processes simplify authoring tool maintenance unify tools and processes across company branches. All these goals have been met with Paligo. We use Paligo to create manuals (admin, end user) for our new products, plus we have selectively imported some key legacy content.
Pros
structured authoring, element attributes
layouts administration, output consistency
great support team
Cons
keyboard shortcuts/key commands: consistency of the existing ones + ability to assign custom key commands
navigation in the content manager: shortcut keys, expand/collapse all, remember position, filtering
more features for tables, e.g. table templates
Likelihood to Recommend
If what you want is common sense, streamlined authoring, you should definitely consider Paligo. Its approach is structured but not over-structured, so it is likely to appeal to a broad range of users. It is probably not targeted at overly nerdy users but these types should not be writing manuals in the first place. From a large company's point of view, Paligo is a great tool to standardize internal processes and unify documentation outputs.

We needed to scale our efforts in documentation through content creation and process management, improve our offering to our user base, and manage translations. Paligo helped us address all these issues, and more. In terms of scope, our entire user base of approximately 5000 people will get direct access to the content we manage in Paligo. Internally we started to use Paligo through our Customer Success department, and now our product and development departments have become very familiar with this first class CCMS. Consequently, we are able to integrate content we create in Paligo into our own product, via very easy to use element attributes in Paligo. So now our user base can access our content via the internet, and our product. I have to say, our work was made very easy with the excellent, direct and proactive CS team (and more) of Paligo. This has been a very happy experience.
Pros
Content creation
Content management
Content reuse
Content versioning (this is a dream)
Content translation
Content presentation
Customer support
Cons
Paligo offers a comprehensive theme and style management editor, but you need to be a proficient user of CSS and associated to work this well.
Access rights to content for normal users could be broadened.

I think Paligo should be considered a strong competitor to Zendesk's Guide. I believe this platform is a good fit for Marketing campaigns, Knowledge Management, Sales and the integration of many 3rd parties. It is not a content/product/team management tool, and so would not be a good replacement for something like Confluence and its related 3rd parties.
Creation of technical documentation, including installation instructions and specifications. Paligo filtering and translation features allow us to more efficiently re-use content in many documents across various products. As a structured-authoring platform, Paligo also supports our ability to standardize document structure, style, and format. Revision times and translation costs are reduced as well.
Pros
Translation management.
Content re-use.
Single sourcing.
Cons
The user interface departs from average user expectations.
File administration features could be easier to use.
Likelihood to Recommend
Paligo is particularly well suited for developing similar document sets for multiple products or product lines. It is not a page layout application, so don't expect the same capabilities as popular applications for graphics-heavy documentation. With some up-front time developing good layouts, however, Paligo does manage to create very usable PDF output for customer-facing documents.
