The PingOne Cloud Platform from Ping Identity in Denver, Colorado is an identity management and access solution (IAM) for enterprises. Features of the products include single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, user management with directory, provisioning and deprovisioning.

The solution is presented as a comprehensive, standards-based platform that allows users and devices to securely access any service, application or API from any device. Designed for hybrid IT environments, it can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or both, and provides centralized control to optimize the balance of security and convenience for all primary use cases.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used PingOne to provide SSO for my application. I didn't use it for our organization. My main use case of using PingOne is for evaluating the product on its capabilities around SSO, MFA, Lifecycle Management and Authorization. So, I have tested my demo app with this to understand how it integrates with apps and enforce the policies in enterprise IAM scenarios.

Pros

Single Sign On (SSO) is the core feature of IAM and PingOne does it good and make it straightforward and easy to implement to the applications.
MFA is another feature is does well as it has many factors enrollments and auth methods for secure login.
LCM is also easy to configure with PingOne and also helps in automating the process.
Admin UI is intuitive and easy to understand for beginners also and that makes the user experience very smooth either for an administrator or an end user.

Cons

Prebuilt integration guides and templates will really help. Ping has vast documentation but somewhat lack of integration docs in compare with alternatives.
Built in reporting and analytics can give us an extra feature with is worth having.
AI assistant or the AI powered insights for unusual behavior in the Admin console will become a great feature if added.

Return on Investment

I can't comment on the ROI because I used it for demo purposes but If I used it in org level then I think it gave me confidence in implementing and integrating the enterprise type of apps with ease.
I also think it saves time and its centralized admin console helped me navigating through tabs and pages and less friction to find the features.
From my developer POV, it made life easier for an admin to concentrate on the configuration and simplicity without a lot of mess and noise.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use the Ping Identity suite of products as our Identity Provider for SSO, MFA, and Risk-based authentication. This provides a secure and flexible solution for any enterprise authentication challenges we face. We also use their PingOne Advanced Services to host the solution in multiple regions, which simplifies our architecture and improves resilience.

Continually evolving solutions.
Good partner that works with us to solve problems.

Cons

Solutions are attractive to engineers but harder to sell to upper management.
Support was initially a challenge but has improved immensely.

Return on Investment

Flexibility is key, we can integrate with any solution.
Single control plane for all authentication.
A single provider for all authentication needs simplifies the stack and solution, and therefore the maintenance experience for users.

We use PingOne in our organization by means of using the software for our security in our credentials. We are using this software in order for our logins to be secured, and in addition to that, it is actually very important to our organization (Shopify) since this is a cloud-based identity and access management that provides a secure and scalable solution for managing user identities and access in our internal tools.

There are times that the response time is quite slow.
Since this is built on Google Cloud, there are moments when we encounter errors when logging in or looping in Google.
