Ping Identity Pros and Cons.

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PingOne in our organization by means of using the software for our security in our credentials. We are using this software in order for our logins to be secured, and in addition to that, it is actually very important to our organization (Shopify) since this is a cloud-based identity and access management that provides a secure and scalable solution for managing user identities and access in our internal tools.

Pros

  • Security
  • Centralized Management.
  • Integration

Cons

  • There are times that the response time is quite slow.
  • Since this is built on Google Cloud, there are moments when we encounter errors when logging in or looping in Google.
  • UI could be improved.

Likelihood to Recommend

PingOne is 'created for Shopify' since this software's integration with our internal tools is very seamless. It helps us to be more efficient with our time; as a result, we can give quality service above other e-commerce competitors. In addition to that, this software also has centralized management that allows Shopify to manage user identities, access permissions, and even authenticate processes from one point to another. Lastly, Security is never a question on this software since this software enhances security through many authentication methods, also known as multi-factor authentication.

Great additional layer of security to your org's ecosystem

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Moving from RSA to PindID was a great move. We can have up to three devices configured for the same login. This makes it easier to use. It adds one more layer of security between SSO login and application. Login via your credentials, a pop-up will be delivered on your phone. Accept it and it automatically takes you to the desired page/application.

Pros

  • Instant Notification
  • Option to manually write code if the notification fails
  • Multi device login option
  • Cross platform application

Cons

  • Notifications require internet. Could be a possible issue when there is congestion in the network.

Likelihood to Recommend

I can only share my experience with Ping. As mentioned earlier, the best part with Ping is that it sends instant notification as soon as you try to login. The caveat with this is that the notification requires the device to be connected to the internet. So if there is congestion in the mobile network, there is a delay in notification. It is an annoyance at times. Otherwise, it is all great.

Rating: 6 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

it is used for federation and directory services. It is use for all the authentication related activities and protect the org. The identities are store and ping identity platform help to protect and provide the single sign on with multi-factor authentication. It uses PingID for MFA solution and uses directory for work .

Pros

  • It is very simple to onboard the application
  • It provide lot of flexibility with SSO functions
  • It helped reducing the cost.

Cons

  • solution has some propriety solution which is hard to customize
  • doesn't support all workflow and hooks
  • solution has aged and not all configuration are supported

Likelihood to Recommend

if you are looking for on-premises federation then it works best with all home grown solution ,but it doesn't provide flexibility to changes the on-boarding. They have new production ping central ,but it doesn't work in all situation and depends on Ping Access to function. It has aged compared to Okta,Auth0 and onelogin.

Rockstar Customer Service and Implementations

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Ping Intelligent Identity is being used globally across our organization. We moved from Oracle Identity Federation 7+ years ago, after reviewing Okta and Azure and doing a proof of concept for all three. We use it today for all employee SSO to both on prem and SaaS applications.

Pros

  • Customer Service
  • Reuse of Configuration
  • Always Looking to Improve

Cons

  • Phone customer Service, first line

Likelihood to Recommend

We have been able to use Ping Intelligent Identity for countless onprem applications, as well as SaaS implementations, and the number of implementations grows weekly. Ping Intelligent Identity is always looking to improve the user experience and all things delivered.

Ping product portfolio is great stuff

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Ping Identity products to provide [a] centralized single sign-on solution for both internal and external customers. Ping Identity Product portfolio (PingFederate, PingAcess, PingDirectory, PingDataSync) is helping us with making user life easy and removing requirement to have multiple passwords for multiple services. We are using it in [our] whole organization - so far just for around 10 applications, but numbers are growing pretty fast.

Pros

  • Stable solution (don't cause any issues).
  • Adds value as central solution for manage A/A.
  • Improved security for core applications.

Cons

  • More functionalities should be available on prem like PingID.
  • New [user interface] for PF 10.1 and PA 6.0 is a bit hard to learn

Likelihood to Recommend

Really like [this] solution, it fits our requirements 100%. There are unlimited possibilities to extend the product, either by creating additional adapters or selectors. We really like the policy management level in PingFederate. It's extremely helpful when we can specify customer journey per many different requirements like user location, application type etc. As well, both StepUp and TopDown authentication flows were implemented [easily].

Ping Identity is a trusted partner focused on my business's success

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Ping Identity products globally to securely enable Single Sign-On to thousands of on-premise and SaaS applications, supporting our company's cloud first strategic direction. Our global workforce is a mix of over 200,000 employees and non-employees working in a variety of scenarios, including purely work-from-home for a majority of them during the COVID crisis. We're using PingFederate as our on-premise Identity Provider, PingOne for Enterprise as a cloud IDP and federation hub, and PingID MFA to ensure strong authentication of our users on SSO and VPN.

Pros

  • Based on open standards, we can use as much or as little of the Ping suite as we like, depending on which other technologies we've already implemented.
  • Continuous innovation and product enhancements have ensured their products continue to meet our rapidly evolving needs.
  • Ping Identity has been an outstanding partner, starting with the RFP process and continuing to this day, years after the sale. They are focused on our success at every level of the company and are highly responsive to our needs, issues, and product suggestions.

Cons

  • Their PingCentral tool has great promise for enabling self-service for our SaaS application owners to enable SSO on demand, but it is still fairly new and isn't quite ready for the enterprise. Happy to say they're working on it.

Likelihood to Recommend

The products we're using work well and are reliable. We've had very few outages, and when we have, their support team has been highly responsive and addressed the issues quickly. They are very customer focused and have been great partners throughout the relationship. I'm looking to adopt more of their technologies over the coming year.

Excellent platform that marries the customization of on-prem with the flexibility of SaaS

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The Ping Identity Platform is used centrally for all business units in our deployment. PingFederate provides enterprise SSO and session management for worker-used applications, and PingID is the MFA provider for the same. PingCentral is the self-service integration platform for internal application teams to create, manage, and delete their app integrations against that platform. It was selected to facilitate our long-term cloud migration and security modernization strategies.

Pros

  • PingFederate is feature-rich, and quickly updated with the latest standards and profiles. This gives us more tools to apply identity standards to modern business challenges.
  • PingFederate and PingCentral were also easy to deploy within docker containers and weave into an infra-as-code deployment, keeping operational overhead low.
  • PingID has an array of supported authenticators for nearly every use case, and early FIDO2 support has us looking into moving to passwordless much more quickly than I had anticipated.

Cons

  • PingID has some limitations when used as the MFA for some LDAP implementations. You need to use it as a RADIUS password credential validator to solve for some of those limitations, which in turn causes challenges with our ephemeral cloud deployment model of PingFederate.
  • The basic logon services within PingFederate are adequate and well-documented, but simple features like disabling user input after entering credentials would help with some of the additional customization required to support real world failure modes.
  • PingCentral authorization models and configuration remain unpolished compared to other products, and now the features seem to be shifting toward onboarding PingAccess and PingDirectory over improving baseline administrative functionality/operations.

Likelihood to Recommend

Ping Identity Platform is great for deployments where you want to retain the agility of commercial off-the-shelf software - namely controlling how and where it is deployed, be it on prem, in a public or private cloud, container, VM, etc., as well as retaining access to the various integration accelerators/plugins that vendors provide, but also want the flexibility of a SaaS-like deployment via your deployment. Via a cloud/docker deployment and through APIs/PingCentral offering self-service integration, you get the SaaS experience and on-prem-like control.

Ping Identity Platform Review

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Ping Identity Platform is used to ensure the user accessing a website is a genuine user and he/she has the right credentials and gets a two-step authentication. Using Ping, we can ensure no one other than you will access the application using your credential as you can log in only after you confirm using the verification code that you receive on your phone/email.

Pros

  • Two-step authentication
  • Authentication via email, sms, phone
  • Ease of use and prompt response

Cons

  • I believe it is very secure & not sure if it needs any improvement as such
  • Only suggestion would be it should not ask users to re-confirm if the session is still active

Likelihood to Recommend

Ping Identity Platform is well suited for high-security applications that need to have secure data. It also ensures that no other user, other than you, can log in as you receive the verification code/call on your email or phone. Unless you confirm the user cannot log in, and hence it is very secure.
