Great tool for VC

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PitchBook to assess comparable transaction in VC deals, we use it to check the fundraising status of several startups, we use it to evaluate performances of other co-investors and we use it to map new startups coming from relevant accelerator program. Sometime we use it to check the founders of other startups

Pros

  • Data coverage

Cons

  • Quality of the data
  • Startup classification

Usability

Great product I am happy our management chose this over other competitors.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used to gather data on existing and previous companies that are currently operating. It's vital to know when companies are private or public, and when their initial public offerings (IPOs) occurred. In addition, filling in basic company information in our database. Lastly, there have been occasions when PitchBook has information about a person who may or may not have the LinkedIn profile we are looking for.

Pros

  • Company information.
  • Deals
  • Investor information.

Cons

  • It would be nice to have the best parts of the deal tab merged into the general information tab for a company.
  • If possible, gather more information on certain executives. There are use cases where our clients want us to research candidates who may not have much information on LinkedIn or RocketReach.

Return on Investment

  • Greatly increased my time efficiency.
  • Prefer using this over Crunchbase.
  • Many clients love having hard data helpful to their database.

We are a family office with portfolio companies. We use PitchBook to research investors, competitors, etc., for ourselves and our portfolio companies.

Pros

  • Provides detailed information about most companies
  • Provides a great amount of information about private companies
  • Allows us to obtain specific investor information

Cons

  • Some of the information seems dated
  • We have recently added SSO so that we can use Claude and ChatGPT, this was something that was lacking
  • The valuation doesn't work for all companies

Return on Investment

  • We have saved time
  • It has made it easier for our portfolio companies
  • Research can now be done by one person
