This is a great system for small and medium businesses dealing from 1 product to 100,000 products. It is elegant to use and very stable.
The system may not be great for converting into a marketplace and the handling of > 1million products.
The system is also not suitable for services selling like events, registrations, subscriptions and ticket bookings etc.
We are currently using it to run our e-commerce website. Our daily sales are all used via website, which we've designed through PrestaShop. It's being used across our whole organization. We currently don't have a warehouse or physical shop, so all our items are being sold online and delivered to our customers directly. Currently PrestaShop is working exactly as we want it to. There were a few limitations using PrestaShop 1.6, but with the current update to 1.7, we haven't had really any business issues making use of PrestaShop.
Pros
Quite easy to use compared to other open-source e-commerce software.
Has lots of free plugins to help you set up a great basic shop.
You can easily create your own unique site.
Lots of payment option plugins and you can use them to sell globally.
Cons
Not a lot of free templates.
Images can sometimes be too compressed and lose their full quality, so better settings for that could be introduced.
Being able to change the look of your automatic emails via default settings can also be introduced.

Any business looking to sell products online--hardware or software--can make use of PrestaShop. It's more suited to being a product selling platform rather than a service selling one. So if you are in the IT industry, selling computer hardware like central processing units, hard drives, solid state drives, etc., as well as computer software, then use PrestaShop. It's not meant for all industries like selling music--the option to stream the music online before purchasing isn't really going to be as possible on PrestaShop.
In our small local company, we have been using PrestaShop over the years. It is used by the whole organization in order to adjust our bookings and modify them.
Pros
List of the users and activities
Easy to use
Fast
Cons
Sometimes it doesn't allow me to modify booking.
Could explain "errors" which occur sometimes a bit better.
Mobile version [is] not really convenient.

As a beginner, it took a while to adapt to the Presta shop usage. It is actually quite hard if you are using it on the phone modifying our bookings has taken a lot of time in comparison with working with the laptop so I always prefer to use the laptop in such a case. However, once anyone adapts to this program it is fine.
PrestaShop started being used in our company because I decided to buy it and thus allow our clients to buy properties more quickly without having to carry out a long interaction process with us. When we founded our real estate company, I bought and implemented PrestaShop on our website so that our clients could add the property they liked the most to their cart, and pay for a part of the property with common electronic payment methods, such as PayPal or credit card . PrestaShop brought us excellent benefits during the first months, it was a platform that helped us make many sales, it made it possible for our clients to be able to choose their property more easily, adding it to the cart and clicking the "buy" button, in addition, our clients they could quickly pay for a portion of the property with digital methods, which progressively spurred negotiations. It brought very good benefits during the time he was in our company, however, we stopped using PrestaShop because we wanted to implement a much simpler system on our website that would allow customers to make direct inquiries with us about the available properties. Currently, our clients can access our website and make inquiries by mail or mobile phone, using the code of each property, this allows clients to know what they are buying and to learn more about the property before making any payment.
Pros
The PayPal button modality was integrated with the PrestaShop system, which helped our clients to complete payments digitally in just a few seconds, this integrated button allowed to streamline many transactions.
Performing inventory reviews and modifying the PrestaShop catalog was one of the things that I liked the most, I could make changes to the catalog, make changes to the conditions of the products in the catalog and all those changes were reflected on my website in a instant, no need to wait some time.
The PrestaShop system created a digital invoice for each client who made the advance payment of a property, which made it even easier to complete the property negotiation. Customers came to our company with the digital invoice for the advance payment and it was easy to identify the property that was paid, thanks to the digital invoice.
Cons
There is no type of support to help users learn to use the PrestaShop service. When I implemented this service in my company, it was with the help of our web developers, and on the occasions that I needed help from PrestaShop support, they never responded to my requests.
Most of the templates for customizing my store were too expensive. Although they were simple but attractive templates, the prices were very high, which forced me to have a simple design in my catalog integrated into my website.
Likelihood to Recommend
I really wouldn't recommend PrestaShop to every person or business. This service has very good features to be able to create an online store and allow customers to add products to their cart instantly, it allows to make electronic payments quickly and the money reaches the company's wallet instantly, without However, it has many disadvantages, PrestaShop does not have a technical service to help implement the software on the website, so if you are thinking of using PrestaShop, you must first have a good team of web developers who are capable of integrating PrestaShop with the Wordpress site without any problem, in addition, PrestaShop takes up a lot of space in the Hosting service, each product that you add to the PrestaShop catalog occupies much more Hosting space and this causes the catalog to take longer to load when the client comes to visualize it. To use PrestaShop I recommend a very powerful Hosting that is able to withstand the high consumption it has.
PrestaShop was used for a trial we ran as we launched an online storefront to sell a handful of handmade goods from another country. It was used across our organization by several individuals to upload, customize, and post products for customers to purchase. It solves a lot of the issues presented to an organization that wants to sell items as this app provides all the functionality needed.
Pros
PrestaShop is a holistic solution for businesses connecting with customers from start to sale!
A robust CRM tool for customer management.
Quick and easy communication with clients or customers.
Cons
If you need to purchase more modules to meet your needs, its a bit expensive.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are a smaller company, make sure to research the available modules to you and if you need to get more modules to meet your needs! If so, the cost can add up. The functionality is great and easy to use so you don't need any special knowledge for this software.
It's used for our websites to enable professional customers to buy some materials directly. It's managed by the marketing and managing team.
Pros
Easy to set up.
Fully customize the design.
Thousands of plugins to pick.
Cons
User guide not easy to understand for beginners.
Additional features are expensive.

We were recommended PrestaShop by a consultancy group that helped us with some BigCommerce customization. PrestaShop is an open source software and we thought we'd have more leeway in modification than we have with BigCommerce. We chose PrestaShop to serve as our e-commerce platform for our primary website and several supplementary websites.
Pros
PrestaShop is Open Source
I could see no other benefit using Prestashop
Cons
PrestaShop has very little online documentation compared to other e-commerce platforms
PrestaShop's answer to everything is, "oh, there's a module for that" Cha-ching
PrestaShop is not very intuitive and the back end is clumsy to work with
Likelihood to Recommend
I will admit we've been spoiled by using BigCommerce for years and prior to that, Magento. Moving over to PrestaShop has been a nightmare compared to those two solid e-commerce solutions. True, with PrestaShop, it's been easier for our developers to API to our ERP, but overall, from a user perspective, I would not recommend PrestaShop for any business solution.
<div>Last year we started the process to move from an outdated Magento installation to a new e-commerce platform. After reviewing several systems, we found PrestaShop met our needs best and started the migration process. During the configuration process we noticed that the system can get very complex and especially the slow performance caused us a lot of headaches. In due time we had to upgrade our server resources to a least be able to work with the system without running into Ajax issues. Another very annoying problem are random white screens, especially in the admin area.</div><div>
</div>
Pros
Very flexible product configuration
Clear and well structured workflow with customer management and emails
Cons
Very slow. Google complains about loading times, means the ranking will be bad!
Very unstable--loading a module can crash the back office. Hard to restore--even a full restore sometimes won't work.
Needs mostly additional modules, which are not free
Display module positions are template dependent. Once a template is changed, Prestashop does not remember the old settings. For updates it's recommended to change to the default template--this means all customization done on our template is gone.
Weak reporting
Likelihood to Recommend
Only OK if used in a managed installation. Don't touch it otherwise. Waste of time and resources.
PrestaShop is a powerful and open-source free e-commerce solution. It is a great tool for building online shopping cart websites. PrestaShop is self-hosted meaning you need to have a hosting plan and some technical and coding knowledge to set it up. Customizing PrestaShop can get a little bit tricky especially if you need custom functionalities although there are plenty of third-party extensions and add-ons that you can implement into the platform.
Pros
Free and open-source.
Highly customizable with some coding knowledge.
Tons of add-ons and third party extensions.
Self hosted, full control on server files.
Cons
Add-ons can get really expensive.
Add-ons can interfere with each other and bugs may arise.
Speed need to be improved.
Likelihood to Recommend
Being a self-hosted solution, it is well suited for people who have a minimum of technical and coding knowledge. If you have no technical skills, you may need to go with other options that are hosted. Also, if you are not willing to invest in customizations and add-ons, PrestaShop would not be the best option to go with.
PrestaShop gave us the possibility to have very quickly an eCommerce website to reach our customers and to facilitate to them the process of ordering and payment.
Pros
Manage orders.
Manage customers.
Cons
Improve abandoned cart management.
Improve connections to CRM like Salesforce.
Likelihood to Recommend
PrestaShop is well suited for new businesses or startups that are going to start in eCommerce and don't have a large number of products.
