smartocto is very well suited to measuring blog performance, gaining insights into topics that resonate & measuring how well your content team is performing. It makes for a good, user-friendly alternative to GA4. It could do with better SEO tracking features as this is what most B2B content teams are focused on.

If you are a newsroom that is trying to get a better understanding of who is consuming your content and how they are engaging with it, smartocto is a must!
We couldn't be more satisfied with smartocto. We have been testing smartocto for more than 2 years now and I have been actively using it for more than 1 year now as an editor of a small website dedicated to media professionals in the region of Western Balkans. In cooperation with smartocto's regional staff we have been implementing their insights solution to 16 other regional media partners in our efforts to improve their editorial data driven decision making processes. Even though most of our media partners have been using some other widely available and free products they had trouble using it in their decision-making processes as they are not adapted for use in media. So far our partners who have been using this product longer have been more than satisfied and they started using it in their newsrooms on a daily basis to make better decisions for future work. Secondly, regional smartocto staff has been more than helpful because they are familiar with the needs of local media partners, and they are also fluent in at least one of the major regional languages. We chose this product because it fulfills the needs of different size newsrooms ranging from small to large.
Pros
UI is simple and understandable.
Great personal and customized support
Data relevant for content production professionals
GDPR compliant
Technical support
Cons
CPI is sometimes harder to understand but once you do it is of great help for business strategy
Video content analysis could be improved but it is sufficient enough.

Great for setting up MEL measurements for web based media. Great for use in media environments especially where there is no dedicated data analytics staff. Not sure how useful it would be for those sites that are not content focused.
We use smartocto in our newsroom to optimise our content performance. In principal we have all the data that we need to help us with this process ourselves, but the huge advantage that smartocto offers is that the relevant data is pushed to the end-user at the exact moment that he/she/they can make a difference. So for optimising our short-term performance, what can we do now to immediately become better at what we do, smartocto is indispensable.
Pros
Providing actionable data the moment that you need it
Providing a clear and easy to use UX
Very flexible when it comes to the configuration for your particular business
Cons
Some small UX things

We use Smartocto for real-time dashboarding and advice to editors on how best to bring articles to the attention of our readers through various publication channels. All our online editorial offices in the Netherlands and Belgium work with Smartocto on a daily basis. We also use Smartocto Tentacles to test our headlines (which approach produces the most loyal readers).
Pros
Real-time recommendations on articles best brought to the attention of readers
Comparisons of articles on section, title and multi-title level of quantitative, but also more qualitative metrics.
Headline testing.
Cons
New feature development: testing images would make a great addition.

SmartOcto is very suitable for building your own dashboards thanks to its own dashboard tool Waves. The dashboards are easy to use. This also applies to the tool with which headlines are tested. It works very intuitively. The advice that SmartOcto gives is understandable and applicable. It is sometimes difficult for editors to follow them (since they are not used to listening to a 'computer program'). As with any automated advice tool, the advice is sometimes obvious. In that case, editors will ignore the tips.
We use quite a lot of solutions in our newsroom but smartocto is our main editorial analytics. What we’ve learned so far is that it has a huge benefit on bringing the data closer to the journalists and editors. At the same time, we use it to understand what engages our audience and which content drives subscriptions. We use it for reporting, for A/B testing of the headlines, Realtime dashboards but also the actionable tips which help us take action on what the data is telling us.
Pros
Flawless implementation
Excellent support
Onboarding the newsroom to data driven decisions path
Cons
It has a lot of information and data all over the place. It took us some time to get used to it and get people properly onboarded. We have seen some improvement, but UX has more space to improve.
Likelihood to Recommend
smartocto is well suited for media organizations as it provides the full featured editorial analytics suite, especially for legacy houses with non-digital savvy people, as a great entry to the world of data
We use it constantly to monitor what articles work well on our website and app. This way we can change what pieces get put on top of the home page to make sure articles people find interesting get more attention.
Pros
A/B-testing of headlines
Cons
The live view of amount of people reading a piece is broken too often
No way to say where in the article people stopped reading
Likelihood to Recommend
I wouldn't recommend using Smartocto. There are better tools that do more and do it better.
