Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I'm a scuba dive instructor and a owner and guide of a scuba dive shop and international scuba travel agency. I use TripIt Pro for all my travels and share it with all my fellow travelers so we have each other flight schedule, arrival times updates and all the trip organized in an easy way.

Pros

  • Organization
  • Calendar organization
  • Easy to visualize the dates and travel plans
  • Flight tracking

Cons

  • Live flight monitoring could be better
  • More about upgrades with miles or cash upgrades
  • More about airport transportation to city center

Likelihood to Recommend

For travels with many stops, different hotels and cities is the best scenario to use TripIt. For simple one flight, one hotel travel experiences TripIt is not many useful because all the already very easy and not complicated. Now for a more complex travel with many flights, different hotels and even stops on different cities is where I see many advantages when I use the app.

Essential planning tool for the disorganised exec!

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tripit is an amazing software tool for any business person who travels for business or leisure. It provides a single view of airline and train reservations alongside hotels and other useful information. It automatically scans your email inbox and adds relevant travel information. The pro version also has an enhanced feature set which makes it incredible value for money.

Pros

  • Travel itinerary tracking to see track delays or flight changes (pro version)
  • Seat tracker to nab the best seat no matter what class of air travel (pro version)
  • Time to airport, train station information (pro version)
  • Check in reminder (pro version)

Cons

  • Being able to exclude regular trips could be handy.

Likelihood to Recommend

For the busy exec, or householder this tool is indispensable. Collating pertinent information in one place ensures that trips are less painful, and that I am on time to pick up tickets, arrive at the airport etc...

I travel a lot around the UK by train ordering tickets for code pickup at a machine at the train station and having these codes clearly listed against dates makes travel far easier. It's ensured I have made my train on more times than one as I am often running late and being able to grab a ticket from the machine in a minor panic without searching through thousands of emails for a train ticket reference is invaluable.

TripIt is a great tool for tracking travel

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is being used only by myself and a handful of others. We previously used it more before the pandemic. We use it to help us track our itineraries. I specifically use it when I travel to clients, conferences, and for personal travel. I have it synced to my email.

Pros

  • Pulls in travel detail from emails.
  • Shows the itinerary visually.
  • Allows you to delete [or] merge reservations.

Cons

  • I would like for it to show a link back to the email or the email text.
  • I would like to get more control over reminders when reservations are coming up.
  • It would be nice if we could sync calendars also.

Likelihood to Recommend

TripIt is great for anyone who has multiple trips at any given time. It is also very good at tracking multiple reservations automatically on individual trips. It's not appropriate for low volume trips or only short trips. It is also good for sharing itineraries with others. It's not good for calendar views.

Simple to use and Efficient Travel Software

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TripIt is used as the system of record for all business travel. It ensures we use hotels, flights and rental cars within our company's expense policy. The whole company uses it and it is helpful to keep expenses down. It is also very helpful in finding approved hotels in areas you may be unfamiliar with.

Pros

  • Hotel booking.
  • Flight booking.
  • Rental cars.

Cons

  • Some trip info is not as cheap as it is thru something like Expedia so some sort of integration there would be nice.

Likelihood to Recommend

Definitely well-suited for larger companies and even small companies with employees that travel often.

Really good on the road!

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It’s being used across the organization for travel expensing and booking. It solves the problem of making booking and itineraries unified and reviewable. Additionally, the reminders it sends while on a trip are beneficial. It has saved me from missing flights due to timezone changes several times.

Pros

  • Reminders
  • Booking
  • Shared itineraries

Cons

  • Interface needs updates
  • Functionality is a little clunky on mobile
  • Could use a mobile wallet integration.

Likelihood to Recommend

TripIt is well suited to travel on the move. It is so useful when I am in the midst of trying to get from place to place in airports and on the way to hotels. <div>I would never purchase a ticket through the mobile app, though. It's too clunky for me to have any confidence in it. </div>

Great App to keep your trip organised with all documents in one place!

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TripIt is a great tool to use both on from a personal and business perspective. It combines all of your itineraries into one location and can integrate as well with other vendors such as hotel booking apps. You can also add users on to share or see you schedule. Super user friendly! I currently use it to manage both my personal holiday planning and my business trips so I can track multiple destinations.

Pros

  • Easy to use UI
  • your trip information can be accessed without hassel
  • Ability to integrate with other vendors
  • Ability to add users
  • Ability to restrict users to View only or to contribute as well

Cons

  • Some addresses sometimes do not load (But this is becoming rare these days)
  • Add some color to the icons (again minor improvement)
  • Ability to create cross destination group trips with different cities to have a full overview of the trip and crossover points

Likelihood to Recommend

It works extremely well when we need input from one or more people but also when you want to allow people to see you trip and what your time will be looked at. It can be a bit tricky since you cannot hide specific segments but the workaround is to have multiple destinations within the same trip but that can get a bit messy.

TripIt is the best way to organize your travel plans

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use TripIt on my travels as well as when I have a business trip. I love this tool as it helps me to summarize in one single place all the information related to a trip. In the example, it gets the confirmation emails from hotels, flights, and car rental and puts them all together, creating my travel plan. Thus, I can avoid searching for emails that contain the confirmation number, dates, and times scheduled. Moreover, it updates you with the boarding gate at the airport!

Pros

  • Summarises travel information.
  • It updates you with changes in boarding gates.

Cons

  • The Pro version is expensive.
  • Works better in the US and Europe but not so well in Asia.

Likelihood to Recommend

TripIt works exceptionally well for those people that travel frequently and have multiple documentation in their emails. It's the best way to get all the travel data in one place and not having to find confirmation emails. In any case, I wouldn't recommend it for those people that don't often travel, especially the Pro version, which I find a bit too expensive.

Love TripIt!

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our entire organization is given a TripIt Pro account that works in conjunction with our travel software, Concur. We use it from the minute we know we need to book any type of travel or lodging through submitting expense reports.

Pros

  • On point with itinerary sync.
  • Super easy to use.
  • Collects receipts

Cons

  • Nothing I can think of that TripIt should improve on.

Likelihood to Recommend

TripIt is great for reminders, alerts, navigation, and directions to things like airports, car rentals, hotels, fuel, and restaurants. It will even give you places to eat or shop that are close to your gate at the airport. It copies your flight info to check-in using airline apps, which is one of the biggest bonuses using TripIt. <b>I love the receipt capture for travel expenses</b>. It's just really helpful.

TripIt making travel more comfortable on your mind

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TripIt is being used by anyone who travels within our organization. Basically anyone who travels uses TripIt. The business problem we've had is twofold: 1. Individuals have delays getting their rental car or solving other travel issues. 2. Others in the organization don't know where their co-workers are traveling and when. TripIt is the central tool for travel communication which allows others in the organization to help when there are travel issues.

Pros

  • Easily keeping personal itinerary in one location to know your schedule.
  • Knowing co-worker schedules while they travel.
  • Having all confirmation numbers in one place.
  • Easy way for someone back in the office to help solve travel hiccups knowing my meeting schedules and other commitments.

Cons

  • The automatic import of scheduled hotel can occasionally miss a confirmation number depending on the source (small hotel or bed-and-breakfast example).
  • User interface hasn't been updated in years.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you travel, TripIt is needed. Unless you like to print out all of your flights, car rentals and hotel reservations and put them in your briefcase. So for anyone who travels, being able to forward a confirmation of your reservation and have TripIt take care of the rest...is absolutely brilliant. It is like having a travel assistant help get your ready for your trip. You could be at your kid's soccer game and wonder when your flight is later that afternoon and you KNOW that TripIt has the flight information in your phone app. For those of us who don't like traveling by the seat of our pants, this tool is a huge relief. All easily readable from my phone or laptop for my entire trip. And done so easily with just a few keystrokes to forward a confirmation email.

IF I want to add my meetings, that is my choice. I may enter 1 or 2 meetings that I needed to know the time they started, otherwise I wouldn't enter those since entering meetings was a manual process.
