Watchguard EPDR
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use WatchGuard EPDR on all of the devices in the company. Phones tablets, computers and servers are all protected by EPDR. with the phones and tablets, it not only scans all of the devices for unwanted software, but also allow for remote wipe and devise location. on computers and servers, EPDR keeps the computers free of malware, and prevents loading of questionable software until it is verified for safety.
Pros
- rogue software installation
- prevention of visiting potentially compromised web sites
- prevention of unwanted viruses from questionable sites
Cons
- Loading of EPDR on tablets and phones can be a bit challenging, primarily due to device security. It would be nice to have EPDR installation software to override this, as it can be challenging to find the settings to get the EPDR running, at times.
Likelihood to Recommend
EPDR is a great product to prevent the loading of malware. it is particularly helpful when you visit a website that has been compromised. EPDR not only prevents the site from loading malware, but also sends the administrator an email, letting them know that the computer has visited a site that has questionable content. This can produce false positives, but it is better to prevent than try and recover.
