It works very well as an all around visualisation tool at an very affordable price. Often under appreciated, it holds its own in the market in comparison to the more well know platforms, but really shines when used as an embedded solution within custom built applications.

Yellowfin is well suited for scenarios where stong analysis plays a role. Scenarios like presenting or showing off dashboards to your customers, they might not got impressed.
We used Yellowfin to try to display device health and use data. We have multiple projects with differing analytics needs and we tried to apply the Yellowfin model to them.
Pros
Self Hosted Site

Support Calls
Cons
Data looks really bad
It takes too many steps to get the data to show
Company does not help with startups that cannot find value with the tool.
Likelihood to Recommend
We signed a 3-year contract based on the great demos they provided presales. We also bought a 1-year onboarding service to help us get the data showing correctly. We spent 1 year trying to get the data to show correctly and decided after 1 year that it was not the right tool for us. We reached out to the team to see if they can adjust the contract since the tool did not meet our expectations after 1 year of trying. They would not budge from the contract. If you are thinking of buying into Yellowfin - BE VERY CAREFUL and make sure you vet out the solution before purchase - what they promise is not what gets delivered.

We are using Yellowfin to perform our calculations and data in a more organized way in a modern and easy to use software for everyone. This tool is helping us to make better decisions in terms of data and analysis collected.
Pros
It allows trend analysis, real time analysis and predictive analysis, which helps us to know the market and making good decisions.
It also allows you to view all data in real time and benchmark results.
It has mobile access, which allows us to monitor the data collected at any time and place. And it has the drag and drop tool that few similar software have and is very useful.
Cons
Data extraction can be a bit slow, I don't know if it is due to my computer or a system problem.
The integration with google Analytics, was quite cumbersome, so much so that we required help from technical support.
If they could have the cloud based version of the program, that would be great, so my computer wouldn't carry so much weight.

Yellowfin was one of the many data visualization tools we had demo'd and currently resell to our customers. The use case for this product was to be able to use Yellowfin to identify, quantify & present our data in a manner that was efficient, concise, and easy to digest. Yellowfin is a great software for business intelligence purposes.
Pros
Action based dashboard / home page
Quick, powerful tool to visualize data in an easy to digest format
Cons
Pretty expensive solution relative to Power BI
Likelihood to Recommend
I would say if your company is not a traditional Microsoft shop and does not have the capabilities of Power BI already.. And you can stomach the cost of Yellowfin for a BI tool, then it is a great fit. However.. For our company.. The issue is that we have access to BI and for a much smaller price point, can have most of the festures of Yellowfin.

Having a lot of trouble finding a good reason to use this program. There is a lot of other programs that do what this program does but better. I think the best scenario to use this is if you wanted to find a not so easy way to present big data
The Yellowfin BI solution was our preferred choice in our journey to source an ideal BI partner for our RUBIQ GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) solution. Yellowfin checked all the boxes for us in terms of flexibility and adaptability to our environment and requirements, in embedding capability and white labelling of the product to provide us with a seamless BI platform supporting our GRC suite of the RUBiQ modules for our end clients. Furthermore RUBiQ is a cloud GRC solution offering and Yellowfin adapted to meet our multi-tenant requirements within our cloud environment. Living as we do in an age of information, enabling access to validated and verified information for critical decision making is an absolute must in any decision maker’s tool kit. The problem is that often information is disbursed and siloed within most organisations, leaving a lot of gut feel and guess work to do on the part of the decision maker. On top of this, a great deal of information in organisations today, still ends up being manually compiled and distributed in Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, this can allow for personal opinions and alteration of information for the "innocent purpose of showing the good and softening the bad" when reporting to executives. Unfortunately decision makers need all the key critical information, as real time as possible, to formulate an accurate picture to take key actions to circumvent and prevent crisis related situations. The integration of Yellowfin with our RUBiQ GRC solution allows us to ensure that this does not occur and key decision makers get timely accurate, real time data to confidently make the right decisions to ensure ongoing business continuity, viability and sustainability and growth within their organisations.
Pros
Presentation of information for executive reporting.
Collaboration and action task assignment on pinpointed issues highlighted in reports and dashboards.
End client easy self - service reporting.
Cons
The ability to predefine a colour for a specific graph as a selection option dynamically.
The ability to customise the label of a chart, especially with respect to performance related reporting graphs we need an increase in dynamic charting options to meet our more specialised requirements.
Likelihood to Recommend
Other than those mentioned Yellowfin has worked well for the scope of what we need to report on for our end clients within the Governance, Risk and Compliance environment.
