Who Buys & Uses Zoom Workplace

Pros

  • Exceptional ease of use for a wide range of users.
  • Reliable core meeting functionality with high-quality video and audio.
  • Effective screen sharing capabilities for presentations and collaboration.

Cons

  • User interface and navigation can be difficult, especially in admin portals and chat features.
  • Connectivity and performance issues, including application lag and call drops in large meetings.
  • Complex settings and non-intuitive feature nesting contribute to UI complexity.

Zoom still rocks.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I mostly use Zoom to connect with colleagues around the world through virtual communities. During the pandemic, I also delivered weekly training sessions to my usual face-to-face clients. These days, I alternate between Teams (whew!) and Zoom (Yeah!) to facilitate meetings with my clients. Although Teams has improved, it is still far behind Zoom in terms of ease of use and functionality.

Pros

  • Ease of use.
  • Amazing breakout room.
  • Live surveys.
  • Possibility to integrate other apps like Miro.
  • The recent AI assistant.
  • The ease of recording the sessions.
  • The AI summary.

Cons

  • The new toolbars are not really an improvement over the old ones. Takes time getting used to ..should be in alphabetical order.
  • The chat from breakout rooms should be available separately.
  • it would be nice to be able to record the breakout room.
  • And have separate summaries.
  • Automatic sound from video.

Return on Investment

  • Zoom saved my business during the pandemics.
  • Zoom's functionality was far ahead of anything available in the early days of the pandemic.
  • In the last few months, the annual subscription has not appropriate for my use, so I might cancel it because I rarely use the extended session feature anymore.
  • I wish there were a one-shot option to purchase a single 2-hour session with all the full features (AI, recording, etc.) instead of an annual subscription.

Zoom Workplace has improved team collaboration

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have been using Zoom Workplace regularly to connect with teams across the globe. It has resolved the problem of effective team communication. The features like screen sharing, co-working and conducting workshops have become easier than earlier. It has helped us in decreasing our time to market as decisions don’t wait for physical meetings and saved a lot of travel cost for the company.

Pros

  • Conference video call
  • Screen sharing
  • Shared Whiteboard
  • Q&A

Cons

  • The whiteboard can be improved to reduce the lag and increase responsiveness
  • Bandwidth issues should be solved to reduce lag and abrupt disconnection of calls
  • The features like hand-raise and other reactions can be places directly on the main tab rather than going inside reactions and then click on hand raise

Return on Investment

  • Reduced time to market
  • Reduced cost of travel and inperson meetings
  • Improved the quality of meetings by knowing the meeting analytics
  • Improved on-site support to team members

Streamline Virtual Meetings and Follow-ups.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize this for meetings with external stakeholders, potential clients, and existing clients. It created a seamless way to host a meeting, take notes, and record.

Pros

  • Easily records and stores recording of meetings for future review.
  • Ability to create different meeting types.
  • Easily present decks while still being able to view audience.

Cons

  • If the AI note taker could show the notes as it is taking them. This would allow us to edit and add further context.

Return on Investment

  • Improved our retention rate for our customers by allowing clear follow-up post-meetings.

Zoom a Great Communication Tool for Fully Remote Companies.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Zoom for video calls in our everyday work. We are a fully remote company; therefore, we stay connected through video calls. We have people in the UK, Japan, Italy, and the U.S. Proper video calling tools are vital for staying connected and having relevant discussions. The most commonly used features are screen sharing and the whiteboard.

Pros

  • Screen Sharing.
  • White Board Capabilities.
  • Video and sound quality.

Cons

  • Sometimes it is hard to handle the mosaic of all the people in the call.
  • I use Linux and MacOS and the apps are slightly different, so it is hard to find the buttons in the right place.
  • I wish it could detect that I am trying to talk and I do not realize that the mic is muted.
  • Or the opposite, when I am not talking and it is too noisy, it should warn me about it.

Return on Investment

  • Improved collaboration.
  • This was especially notable in 2020, when we started being fully remote, and Zoom helped keep us connected and hold our meetings.
  • I guess it was quite helpful for cost savings: when we went full remote, we stopped paying rent on the office. On the other hand, as employees, we saved money on commuting and on living close to the office.
