Great product for small companies that have the potential to grow
Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting
Finance is currently the only department to use MIP Fund Accounting. We use it to record all financial information and to produce reports for other departments in the whole organization. MIP is able to record revenue and expense information for more than 20 programs under the same company. We are able to run reports for the entire company, or just the specific portions we are interested in.
Pros
- Predesigned report templates to suit many different types of reporting needs
- Easy to use and learn the basics
- Grows comfortably with a company, no matter if it is small to large
Cons
- It is not easy to find out if an invoice has been paid; you need to run a report first then search.
- Unable to have unposted information in balance sheet accounts
- Suspense items in bank reconciliations do not automatically carry over from month to month
- The pricing scale has been great because pricing depends on the number of users in the system and we don't have to purchase a larger, more expensive system, as our department grows.
- Ability to run reports quickly for different programs and/or schools,
- Importing information has allowed us to upload AP, payroll, JV and cash receipts in a quarter of the time.
MIP was the best product for the price. My first accounting software experience was with Great Plains and while there were certain functionalities that were easier to use, MIP was overall easier to learn and use in a short amount of time. MIP suits all of our current needs and most likely our future needs as well.

2 - The Technology unit supports MIP because MIP is hosted on our own server. Most of the support is fairly minimal but there are annual updates on MIP software as well as annual tax reporting software that needs to be upgraded for 1099 records distribution. There is a network administrator is provides this support as well as a network support to upgrade software on a user level.
