Overall Satisfaction with ADP SmartCompliance

It is being used across our entire organization for payroll and wage (employment) taxes in the United States, which is our headquarters. We used to be burdened with calculating payroll taxes ourselves without a system, and trying to figure out state by state employment regulations and were making mistakes. This module reduced operational and regulatory risk for 95% of our employees.
  • We just wire ADP the calculated amount of payroll/employment tax and they take care of the rest.
  • They do automated filings and help in reconciliations with our HR/Payroll system which then interfaces with our general ledger.
  • Reporting is comprehensive and easy to access for our payroll group and warehouse data analysts.
  • We should never have to pay ADP our payroll taxes the day BEFORE our actual payroll—they keep all of that float.
  • It is just one more speciality financial system used but we wished we could have everything in one system.
  • They need to provide other training for Finance not just Payroll and HR.
  • Unsure of their BCP plan during disasters.
  • We now have less headcount saving money, e.g. 1-2 less headcount.
  • We also now have less regulatory filing errors and less fines.
  • We lose float and interest earnings by 1-2 days by paying payroll taxes to ADP before the payroll.

It is an appropriate compliance system for large companies (or small organizations) when they have many payroll cycles, e.g. weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, off-cycle runs and different types of employees, e.g. union workers, professional workers, part-timers, seasonal workers, etc. The regs are very difficult and we can not afford to be fined for poor or missing filings. Not sure if it will work for our global employees in 10 countries.
