Dependable News Source with a Google like Search Engine to Boot.
Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense
Access company news on behalf of my clients with a focus on retrieving sell-side reports, earnings news, and other articles that have an impact on the client's stock price action.
Pros
- Keyword search is effective.
- News stories presented in chronological order with time stamp is a plus.
- Bevy of news sources providing content.
Cons
- Copy/paste feature requires formatting when placed into the body of an email.
- Would like to see more access to sell-side reports.
- Information is easily retrievable.
- information is not found elsewhere.
By setting up a peer group listed, I have in one place all of the pertinent news that comes out on them, so I am able to keep abreast of industry/sector events. I also like the fact that I can determine how far back I want to search. Oftentimes, I just need to see news that came out within the past 24 hours.
FactSet did a very good job of keeping me informed on industry/peer news as well as sell-side research. In addition, FactSet provided very good 13f ownership data and stock price updates on a real-time basis. However, we switched data providers to capital IQ, which does a nice job on ownership information but is sorely lacking when it comes to industry/peer news, so we needed a separate source for this type of data, and AlphaSense filled that void.
